Hi everyone! I have a few questions. Does anyone use doggie seat belts?
I was going to purchase one or two for my dogs. I wanted to know do they work? My bailey jumps from the front seat to the back over & over. I cant get her to sit!!! I dont want to get into an accident. There not always bad in the car but when they dont go bye-bye for a few days they go nuts!!!
When the weather is nice we have them in the back of the truck. They aren't back there when we have long trips just when we drive in town. And they love it. But when they are in my car they are everywhere. Just want to know if its a good thing to get for them. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks.

I know quite a few members use them. I suggest if you get one for your dog to get him accustomed to it before you actually take him out in a seat belt. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to try and untangle a seat belted dog that is having a fit while you are driving!

I know they have car safety harness's for dogs. I plan on getting one for mine. They said the best thing to do is to get them used to it and keep them in the back seat especially if you have air bags! It works just the same as a harness howqever in the back it has a o'ring that you attach to you safety belt. It gives then the freedom to move but not get in your way.

I believe it is called the travelin dog harness. It is even comfortable for them to wear because it is soft cloth covered in the front to protect there chest.

Yes, I've used one sine Luka was a puppy- actually, his 3rd day hime we traveled an hr away to my mom's (Thanksgiving). I have been very dilligent using it- until about a month ago. He is very good about sitting in the seat- even without it.
It's a good thing and I've plans to start using it more. It keeps them in the seat- they can still look out or lay down, it's just they... well, have a seat belt on
Get the ones with fleese, they are made better and more comfy.

I have one and it's great, Guinness was still thinking he was 7 lbs and could fit on my lap when he was 40#!!! I will use it 99% of the time, it has taught him not to climb in my lap. I think it's law here to have them belted, I could be wrong on that but it is a good idea. They could fly through the window or into someone in the car, I think that's where the law comes in they are a "free object".

Are they adjustable

Are these fleece harnesses adjustable? Lola is still growing and I would hate to have to buy a bunch of different sizes.

i was thinking about buying one. i have an suv and usually just put apollo's kennel in back and let him ride in there. when i do let him ride in front, he is very well behaved so i haven't needed one. i'm not quite sure how he learned to stay so still while in the front seat, but i'll take it.
i really don't like letting him ride in front though, only for safety reasons. i prefer to have him in the back in his kennel. i think it's just a bit safer for him there.

they do have 2 different sizes for large and small. Both are adjustable. but i am sure that if you start him as a puppy you will have to buy both sizes.

Shelby always has her seatbelt on whenever we drive anywhere. She hated it at first, but quickly got use to it and I think she likes it now. It give her more security for stops etc. And I love it because I don't have to worry about what she is doing while I am driving and can concentrate on driving.
I encourage everyone to please secure their dogs whenever they are in the car. Either by seatbelt or a crate. Driving with your dogs loose is an accident waiting to happen, especially in the back of a truck. I hate to see dogs wondering in the back of a truck. If you have to make a sudden stop, even at 25 miles an hour, the dog can end up flying right out of the back of the truck bed. And even the best trained dog, may not be able to resist all temptations and may attempt to jump out if he/she sees something that is just too tempting.
