Last year I was introduced to this woderful breed by my neighbor(has 3). I have since been scared, amazed, and delighted by these characters. Im not sure if I want a puppy or an older dog. Too many pros and con. Any advice would be helpful. Want to be a mom to one of these treasures.

Since you don't particularly want a puppy, it would be wonderful for you to check local rescues for an adult. Many people don't want older dogs so they are left in foster homes or even shelters. I personally would not look forward to housetraining a puppy again, ever! Adults that have been in rescues or shelters might have some issues, but they are typically very thankful to have a forever-home and turn out to be very adoring pets.

It really depends on what kinds of things you're willing to deal with. All dogs demand a certain amount of patience, effort and energy for all of the love and joy they give you. Puppies can be a huge handful, but so can rescues who haven't been treated well in their past.
Having owned both, as a personal preference, I prefer 2-3 yr old rescues to puppies. Puppies are so darn cute, but they are a LOT of work.
The reasons are: I don't like potty training or having to keep an immaculate house to keep the puppy from destroying things, etc.
There's nothing more rewarding than knowing you saved a life, too. I vote for a rescue.

I always prefer a puppy because I have small children and really like to torture myself as much as possible. I however live in an area where boxers are hard to come by rescue wise. They are snatched up lickity split. If I were you, I would adopt an adult,(especially if there aren't any small children in your house) because of the previously mentioned reasons. Boxers are special at any age. Good luck on your journey!

I vote adult. If you look at the local rescue sites, at how many babies are there, I don't know how you can resist. I have adopted a 10 year old, 6 year old and 1 year old. No offense to Mindy, but I would take older over younger any day! I had thoughts of a puppy at first, but my heart broke for all the babies in the rescue and my decision was made. I will always have rescues, but not everyone feels that way. Just go with your gut, but checkout the local rescues Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of Boxers!

Iv had dogs my entire life, and I use to always go for the puppies because they are so young and cute and all that, but as I have gotten older I have found that adult dogs are SO much less work than puppies are, they are faster to pick up on things, are usually already potty trained, and they aren't in that chew everything up stage. They are still just as playful usually as a puppy but are able to calm down when you want them to, so now my preference is adults. You should take time to get to know the dog/puppy first and the history of the dog/puppy if possible because there are pros and cons to adults as well as puppies. It's just a matter of person prefference. I have a rescue adult boxer who came from a HORRIBLE life and I have 2 young children and a small dog, it has been so wonderful and she fits in perfect.

If you are not fussed rescue a boxer. There are plenty out there that would love a great home. We started with a puppy (Atlas) and then rescued Connie. Connie is a far more affection dog then Atlas, I think mainly due to the fact that he has been spoilt all his life.
Rescue dogs can come with their own problems though. Connie was mistreated in her previous home and things that have power cords still easily scare her...:(

I say adult. My rescues were over a year old (Dite), approx 9 months (Skynyrd), and 4 years old (Sammie) when I got them. I much prefer the older ones. Skynyrd, who was the youngest when we got him, was a lot to handle. Dite was a dream dog, as is Sammie. They are over their misbehaving/chewing/destructive stage and pure joys. Not to say that adults are perfect and don't misbehave...far from it. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Yes puppies are allot of work & you need to spend allot of training time
Beau is now 8 months,I wouldn't trade the experience in saving him for anything,luckly I am at home & spend allot of time training
To rescue an older boxer would be so rewarding
