Caney is doing great!! She recovered very quickly without needing much pain medication, didn't bother her stitches at all so I never had to put an e-collar on her, and had no problem transitioning from the yummy canned food back to her usual kibble. 
The pathology report on her bump came back as a cutaneous plasma cytoma, with clean margins 
the vet said that usually these are benign, although some pathologists will argue that those occurring around the mouth tend to be aggressive, but complete excision is usually curative. So we'll just keep an eye on it and hopefully it doesn't return!
The only "issue" we've been having since surgery is with Caney's anxiety when I leave her somewhere that is not home. For Easter we took her over to stay with my parents while we went to visit DH's family, and my mom said she started howling after we left
Which she NEVER does. This past weekend we were up at my parents' cabin with a lot of my family, and one evening a few of my cousins and I made a quick run to the store. DH stayed behind and at one point he was outside with Caney, he said he turned around for a second and when he looked back she was gone, he couldn't find her for 10 minutes! When he told me about it I thought maybe she'd gone after a deer or something but he was sure that she had run off to find me. Thank goodness she came back!! I guess it will just take some time to get back to where she's comfortable being without mom.
I have to take her today to get her stitches out, and I'll probably give her a Xanax before we go (she's prescribed them for thunderstorms). I don't like to give them to her too often, and she's usually really good at the vet, but I just have a feeling that this time, it's a good idea.
