I'd hoped that Hugo's cancer experience was going to be limited to his leg but the doctors found a tumor on his spleen yesterday. His red cell count has been low for a couple of weeks so the doctors did more tests all they say right now is that its some type of sarcoma with spindle cells. The pathologist report will take another week.
Hugo had his spleen removed today. From what I've been reading, the prognosis isn't great after a splenectomy for malignant tumors. The surgery went well but his heart showed some arrythmia so they have him on some hearts meds and in their doggie ICU. Regardless, this is the last of his treatment. He's a 'mature' boy and he's been poked and prodded for 2 years. He's earned some retirement time.

for it. That is why we were told not to do chemo. We weren't aware of his until he was getting ready for surgery. It showed up on a pre-op ekg. We then went to a cardiologist and found out 3% of his heart beats were irregular. Not a huge amount, but enough to start meds. The meds brought it down to < 0.01 % in other word 33 irregular beats.
