I am a firm believer of the body's ability to heal itself. I think she will get through this with your help, the warm compresses and the topical. Now we just need to get her to eat. A body can't heal if it doesn't have any calories in it....actually it needs FAT to heal wounds. I was told this when my dad had his open heart surgery by the nutritionist.
Let's think outside the box.....
Canned cat food, baby food, scrambled eggs, chicken breast, ricotta cheese, any type of beef, etc....
Something WILL tempt her to eat especially since she has been hydrated. That in itself can make them even more nauseated. Does she like ice cubes? What about freezing chicken both into cubes?
If you are anything like me.....I am terrible about smothering. I have to tell myself to leave them alone sometimes. I will be right in their face offering them too many food items to count (when they have been ill) and it overwhelms them (I think). I have noticed in the past with many pets that when I actually leave them alone and they get a chance to make up their own minds that they will eat what is near.
Praying that she feels better very soon!

Topical antibiotic! Brilliant!

That's great that the vet heard you out and decided against the shot. Sometimes our gut feeling knows best. I would have been a tad uncomfortable not giving anything at all, but didn't even think about a topical! That's the best possible scenario. The warm compresses will help a lot too.

Sending good butt vibes your way.

Yay she ate! Finally late morning she agreed to eat. I gave her some evangers canned "hunk of beef" which is literally a cooked hunk of beef in its own juices. Once its out of the can you'd never know its dog food. So I mixed that with the broth and some white jasmine rice and she wad finally tempted enough to eat. Thank goodness! Of course now her bum is looking a little more irritated today but I'm hoping it's just because of the warm compresses which makes the scab fall off. Her spirits are good and I can tell she feels much better. So fingers crossed her bum is healing properly.

So glad she is interested in eating again! I have seen the Evenger's Beef. It does look a piece of pot roast. It was one of the foods I used to get Thor eating after surgery a few years ago. Continued healing (((vibes)))!

Oh my goodness, poor Nano! I hope her bum's feeling better soon. Sounds like the topical is working much better than the oral. I don't blame you for not wanting to go the injection route.. scary!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, good vibes, and advice! Nano had a recheck and they did not feel any lumps, bumps, or concerns! They really feel it was just an abscess. She is healing nicely. No more tummy issues either. Thanks again!
