can anyone help me Bruce sometimes looks upset

All of you o.kay well i hope so I'm just looking for some advice Our Bruce plays like a boxer should and he loves to play I'm with him all day long as i work from home and he has a lot of play times. He has 2 long walks a day He used to have more until my son passed away cos we were walking to school and bacWe spoil him all the time but sometimes he just looks so unhappy sometimes i just think it is the way they are and do they love to sleep

You know...I've had soooo many people comment on how sad my dog looks...and he's not sad at all.It's just his look. He sleeps periodically on & off through the day, if he's not being his goofball self! But if Bruce is healthy, and I am sure he is...as you haven't mentioned any health issues, it's probably just "his look". Also, he may be very well grieving the loss of your son too. People like to say "they're just dogs, they don't have emotions"...but as a Boxer owner, I am sure you have found otherwise. I would just try to give him extra special attention, and tell him that you love him very much....eventually I think he'll start perking up!Good Luck.

Maybe I'm a little confused? You said your son passed away? How old? If your dog had a bond with your son it is highly likely that he #1 misses the boy #2 is feeding off of your emotions? If I am misunderstanding please forgive me, but it is important to understand that dogs are like people and they feel your emotions and emotions of their own! PLUS both my babies are the best pouters in the whole world and they are great at making me feel guilty when I have nothing to feel guilty for!!

We had only had Bruce for about 3 or 4 months before my boy passed away so Bruce was just getting to know him

It may be a combination of missing your son and that look that Boxers give. You know, they rest their heads on the floor and have a bored/perturbed look on their faces. That look always makes me feel so guilty!

I am so sorry for your loss. Perhaps in the short time your son and Bruce were together, they formed a bond. Although I've never seen it firsthand, from all that has been said here at BW, our babies very definitely do mourn the loss of a loved one. As for that sad face, my Grunt has one, too, and it has actually almost driven me to tears at times, because he does truly look so sad. Those big liquid dark eyes, that downturned mouth looks sad to me!! But, I really don't think he is...except of course, when I go to work - then he does a job on me, big time. My husband says that's just the way boxers look.

Bruce is more than likely picking up on your emotions,& missing your son also.Does he have any children to play with, my Boxers just love being around children,when they see one, the look on their face is like they are smiling. My husband works from home and he always tells me we have day and night boxers. From about 7:30AM until 3PM we have a pair of Couch Potatos. He says he even has to nudge them up to take them out for a potty break. They also watch soaps while he is in his office working.
Now come 3PM my two sons get home from school. He said they come to life a little bit but all the action starts at 5:30pM when I pull in the driveway. He laughs and says they go nuts, my female starts beaning so much she does flips in the air and my male starts his Woo Wooing like Chubaka in Star Wars. From then until about 9PM its 100% follow mom, play, eat, go out play some more etc. So I do think they like to sleep alot.
