Sorry didn't get back sooner,it was a long day and it seems that the cold/flu my husband had all last week caught up to me and my Mom. The operation was pretty long or at least it seemed that it was longer than Brandi's. I sat outside and watched through the glass. They removed 7 cysts some bigger than a pea. He had cropped up a few more a couple days before surgery but they couldn't remove all of them because it would have been too much cutting and they were afraid the stitches wouldn't have held up. There was a lot of bleeding as the explained due to the amount of capillaries in that area. The sent the cysts out to an outside lab and we won't have the results till Monday. The preliminary tests should that some of the cysts were filled with Keratin. 5 vets looked in on the surgery along with the other surgeon that specializes in bones. There were no problems with the bones and there was no need for a "bone tap" as all the swelling was in the tissue.
After eating cough drops all day I was wired on sugar and ask a million questions, like what could be causing this and what if and what if it isn't, I know i probably drove them nuts. The said it could be a number of things causing the swelling but seemed to be clueless with the speed the cyst were popping up. The fact that it is presenting the symptoms so fast they are cautioning me about expecting it to be cancer. The other things were Vasculitis, lymphatic ?? and Venus?? I can't read what she wrote down and my head is fuzzy right now and I can't remember the words she used.:confused:
Caesar is doing pretty well today, a little sore but getting around OK. He is eating alright but not that much I asume it is the pain. I have pain meds for him but because the night before surgery his tummy was really upset, the vets wanted me to hold off on the pills and gave him a shot after surgery instead. Of course that wore off 6 hours later and isn't helpng today. I think the fact he was on pednisone and he has always had a sensitive tummy, it made it worse. His stitches are in two spots on the back of his leg. Just above the top pad on his leg they took out the most and the removed that lump up near his"elbow".
He has a new little lump farther up near his chest and a couple more in the middle of his leg, and one more on the front and a real little one down on the side of his foot. All of them were not there last week at the pre-surgery visit.
Please keep them vibes coming , I pray every day that the leg will mysteriously clear up just as fast as it started. At the same time I can't wait for the results, I am afraid of the call.
