Burnt grass from urine

Does anyone know what it is you give your dog to not have all the dead grass spots from urine on your lawn. I seem to remember reading about it and I think it was apple cider vinegar? I would appreciate anyones knowledge on this. thanks!

i am all for hearing the answer on this one !!!! i looked at some stuff at the pet store - way to pricy ~ and sam only goes in one area of the yard ..... SO we have a HUGE corner of burnt grass ! yahoo .... and of course right by the driveway ~

If I remember right, it is 1 tbs. raw apple cider vinegar daily. I give it to mine, and when I ran out, I forgot to get more. The spots returned, which then reminded me to get more LOL. I feed them raw, and just put it on their food. Some people put it into their water bowl.

Apple Cider Vinegar wont hurt to try. Its also good for their immune system & digestion too. You need to get the unfiltered (cloudy) not the filtered (clear) one. The BRAGG brand is usually easy to find. But in regards to the pee burns on the lawn I have personally found that just watering more makes a huge difference. We have 5 boxers currently (some are fosters) and no brown spots because we water a lot.

water every day - but just once in the evening ..... still spots - and now bare dirt .. where spots used to be ( to much water ? - ) ... think i am going to try the vinegar

Hi ,

My sweet ole girl Ginty just never burnt the grass, but she drank such a lot, I feel sure her pee was watered down and never burnt the grass. Where as Saska now nearly 11 goes pee and burns the grass, my lawn was such a mess, but with getting older, she plods around after me.... and goes pee maybe four times a day.... I just watch her and see where she has peed then get the hosepipe and give the area a good dosing...now my grass is fine.
Hope you find a remedy.

if i tried the vinegar , i have a free feeding water dish , not sure how much water it holds . so say how much vinegar per half gallon of water ?

and it has to change the taste of the water .. seams to me it would make it yucky !

BUt i am willing to try .. watering more is not a option, my water bill already is more then my house payment - .. we have a large corner lot and lots of flower beds.

I'd recommend you put it in with their food so you can guarantee they each get the amount recommended. And it isn't per how much water it's per animal...1 TBSP per day per Boxer. So for us I feed twice a day and put in 1 1/2 tsp with each meal. All 3 (2 Boxers 1 GSD) LOVE it and actually pout when I run out and it's not in their food. Got my GSD to eat when he first came to me and didn't want to go figure. But has to be the raw unfiltered stuff (Bragg's is the most common brand and there's usually floaties in it) not the stuff you use for salad dressing that's see through.

Ok - here is a question - what do you do when the spots are ALREADY there? By giving him the apple cider vinegar now it wont take them away will it?

How do I fix my lawn?

We are lucky - he goes only in one corner of the grass, but still - almost that whole corner is yellow grass now.
Sometimes his new thing is to go on the pavement - just as of like 1 month ago - especially if it's raining and the patio is wet - not sure what that is about....

Anyway - how do you FIX the hot spots?
