Bumbs around eyes

I warn you, this will be a bit graphic description.

We took Zeus (11mo) to the vet 2 weeks ago tomorrow b/c he has had small bumps on his leg (pimple size), some doggy acne on his chin and he consistently gets these bumps on his eye and occassionally on his cheeks. The bumps are between small pimple size and sometimes grow as large as the head of an eraser. They start out being whitish and spreading the hair enough w/the swelling that they are noticable. After this, they tend to grow and become red (bright pink) and filled with puss. They have no noticable head to them but when squeezed they ooze from a single hole a mixture of puss, a watery substance and blood. They tend to grow right along his brow or on the eyelid where his little eyelashes are. If the bumps are drained they tend to go away, but if left untended they fester a lot. Sooo, back to the vet. Zeus was given a prescription for the acne and the bumps on his leg vet said were staph (apparently not uncommon here or in boxers). The bumps that I am so concerned about he could give us no explanation for and said we can either pop them or just leave them be. Zeus had his full week of antibiotics and all of the problems left for 6 days. Now, tonight, he once again has a little white bump on his brow. I am not sure if they bother him but they have to b/c of their placement. We are thinking of taking him to his other vet to get a second opinion but does anyone does anyone have any insight or suggestions about this????? They are not always in the exact same spot but they are always in the same general area w/the exception of 3 of these he has had on his cheeks (which were much more mild). Please help!!! Thank you in advance!

Angel had this when she was younger. It was never diagnosed as anything in particular. Sometimes we'd "drain em" sometimes she'd scratch at them but all in all she hasn't had one in a while until last week she got one on her eye where her eyelashes come out. She's had it for a week now and it is slowly disappearing. She like Zeus had this a lot when she was younger but now doesn't seem to have the problem. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! But I haven't had any serious problems with them.

Saw this post kind of late. Bella had zit like things on her head, muzzle, cheeks etc. The vet first thought it was puppy acne, gave her antibiotics and they went away but came back. You may want to get a skin scraping done to check for mites. Demodectic mange. It is fairly common and can be easy to treat. Does Zeus has them on his belly?

bumps

Princess has the same thing....she's 11 months old and has had them for months now. The vet put her on an atibiotic and they cleared up but she also had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. So the vet had givven her a shot of antihistamine and cortizone, that's when they actually disappeared. Now she has them again....the vet seems to think that maybe it's an allergic reaction....I'm not sure if it is or not, because she has allergies to her food. But they seem to be exactly the same as you discribe them. I sometime try to pop them and it seems to go down after that....I'm confused too...The other option is the skin scraping, as Bella's mom recomended....
I'm thinking i may do the same if it doesn't clear up with this new hypo allergetic food that she's on.

I hope this helped you instead of confussing you:confused:

It sounds just like pimples. Your boxer is the classic age where they often get them. They will eventually go away as your dog matures, just like with people. :)

Ty all for responding! He doesn't get them anywhere but around his eyes and occassionally on the jawls. Could the mites be mistaken for staph by the vet? Vet seemed to think he had minor staph near his paw (4 little bumps/sores very small). He does have less since the antibiotics. Margarita- I'm sry about Princesses allergies! We can relate. One day we came hm and Zeus had a quarter size bump on his back so we decided if it didn't go away w/in a couple days we wld take him to the vet- 1 hr later he had hives so bad his eyes were nearly swollen shut! We think it may have been rawhide. At this pt I think it could be either zits or ingrown hairs... but they are bigger than a zit u wld see on a human and when popped they sometimes need to be drained a 2nd time (as I said, vet gave us the okay on doing that so as long as it doesn't bother Zeus to have them drained I guess we will do that).

Once again ty!!!
