Brinx's Dad,
I too had to give up my sweet Ginny to a boxer rescue. I loved her so much and I still miss her. She had health problems that I didn't have the finances to conquer. She was a beautiful boxer who I felt a deep connection with. I try to assuage the pain by telling myself that I did what was best and that I know I gave her the tools to be successful in a new home. When she came to me she had been abused and she was scared. She had no training and no knowledge of limitations within a family. She quickly came to trust me and my children and did so well. If only..... Sometimes when I come across her collar I still cry a little. You should have heard the rescue lady rave about her when she took my Ginny back!! She wanted to keep her for her own. Instead she went to a neighbor(friend of the rescue) where she will be well-loved. I have adopted a new boxer boy named Toby. He and I don't have the same connection even though I have had him for almost a year, but we will get there. He adores my husband. Just a few days ago we had a breakthrough. Toby put his paws on my shoulders and looked into my eyes and said: Whooo woo woo! He has been doing this since. I think he finally gets it that he is ours! :)

I know exactly what you are feeling right now because we are going thru the same thing. Everyone here at this board has been incredibly uplifting and I think that we can both find comfort in knowing that giving our furry friends a better way of life is the absolute biggest gift of love we could give.

With deepest sympathy,
Erin

So yesterday was the day that I was to let my boy go. I was so sad when he left I couldn't help but bawl my eyes out. I've never had to let such a great friend go before.

I can only imagine how he felt....sad, very sad and I hope that he will find a forever home this time!
