I have had a West Bend Bread Machine for years and I just love it. It only makes up to a 1.5 lb loaf and I wish it made a bigger one. There is nothing like waking up to the smell of fresh bread.

I would like one of the new ones that make bread in about 60 minutes. I think that would be great for when you are in a hurry, but I bet the quality isn't as good.

So its sound like to me that you can put this on and it will make bread over nite? it sounds great! will get one for sure next time i'm at the mall. The larger one and digital with a delay timer.

Oh yes Colleen...you have to get one! They are great! I have a CharlesCraft Bred Chef...it makes 1, 1.5 & 2lb loaves. I don not find it noisy at all, and I do love the smell of fresh bread! It's amazing the things you can make...yes banana loaf, fruit loaves of any kind really. Pumpernickel bread, italian bread sticks, bruchetta, taco pizza, etc!
Trust me...they are great!

Mine has a mixing paddle...and I lost it. I called the company and ordered 2 replacements so I'd have one..and haven't lost any more. Gotta watch those little pieces.

I like it for making dough for pizzas, etc, not just for making bread.

Mine is nothing special..but I do like it.

Colleen, I have a Black & Decker 'All-in-one Deluxe Horizontal' Breadmaker, it is good, not much noise at all, it makes the 1.5 or 2 lb loaves. The instruction/recipe book that came with it has recipes for Banana Nut Bread, Apple Crisp Dessert, rice Pudding, Lemon Poppyseed Cake and Jams. (The jams are storable in the refrigerator for up to 3 weks). Good luck in shopping, and let us know how you get on with your new toy!

And..... are you all aware that there are recipes for dogtreats made in bread makers ? ;) Just another reason to get one.

I don't have one, but it is on my must get list. I still make it the old fashioned way, and the more stressed or pi@@#% I am, the better the bread turns out. I used to make 7 loaves every Tuesday (in my life before this job I have smashicon ) These days, well if it doesn't say thaw and bake, it doesn't happen :D

Well I did it, I got the above one, there wasn't too many choices. DH has gone to the store right now to get ingredients to make our first basic white loaf. Can't wait! he is just as excited as I am. Thanks everyone for all the information, will let you guys know how it turns out!

Congratulations Colleen appicon . I usually make the 100% Whole Wheat or Cracked Wheat bread, and I always make the larger size as Gunther gets through bread like it's going out of style! I suppose that is the European up-bringing, bread with everything.
Let us know how you get on and how it turns out.
