We got a Panasonic one. A bit more expensive than average but well worth the extra as far as the quality is concerned.
They seem to be a nice comprimise between quality, functions and price.
Couldnt recommend them enough.
All IMHO
I have the BreadMan. LOVE IT! I've made pizza dough, banana bread, wheat bread. It does everything and isn't too loud. The recipe book is good too. It's all digital and compact. I would check it out.
Wow, banana bread! thx guys! ok, never thought about how loud they were. Paul and LJ, is yours noisy? I only have one friend that has one and she says it takes a lot of practice, some times her bread comes out too crusty or not done enough.
I wouldn't say it takes a lot of practice. If you follow the directions you should end up with lovely bread. I have a bread machine that I adore! Its not terribly loud but I know when its kneeding the dough. But hey what does that matter as long as it isn't me kneeding the dough. :p Seriously I love them! There are websites and cookbooks that have just bread machine recipes.
Exactly! If you follow the directions and put the stuff in as directed you should have no problems! It's pretty fool proof. When it is kneeding you can hear it but like myrocky said as long as it's not me!!!

I got mine at Bed Bath & Beyond. You can check it out at their website. It's under electronics - kitchen - speciality. It's the Breadman 2lb.
You know Colleen I'm not sure. It makes a pretty large loaf though. I didn't really check sizes what when I was getting it. I just liked it for the many features it has. and it's all digital.
No bigger than 2lbs. Standard bread machines make loaves between 1.5lbs -2lbs. You will have to make sure which size you get so you can adjust the recipes accordingly.
ours is very quiet. Not difficult to get to grips with at all (even I can do it !!) If you can read a set of instructions in sequence then you can impersonate a master baker no probs LJ often makes pizza bases and a varitey of rolls and loafs.
Nothing better than waking up in the morning to the beeping of the breadmaker and the smell of a freshly baked loaf !! (make sure you get one with a delay timer )
