I've had braces for 2.5 years now. Got them when I was 27-will be 30 in December (hopefully they'll be off before then!). I know your DH will feel much better about himself once he gets them b/c I know I did. I've always been pretty outgoing, but my DH says he can really tell a difference now that I have them. The only advice I have is to be sure to keep wax on hand for brackets rubbing on the inside of his lips/cheeks, and to be sure to go ahead and take ibuprofen/tylenol BEFORE he goes for an adjustment, alot of times it's too late if you take it afterward.
