I’ve found two dogs to be the best number to have. They can socialize and play with each other but more than two makes going places as a family more difficult, and problems between them more likely. Boxers are my favorite breed but I also really like some others, so having two also allows me to have more than one breed at a time. I have a Boxer and a Lab mix now. A great advantage of having more than one dog is they can learn from each other, which makes training easier and it’s fun to see behavioral traits acquired in dogs I had many years ago passed along to my current pets.

I also agree that having 2 is great BUT there is a few things you should know.

1. Before Memphis came along Dakoda was ALL ours, now we have to share her love and affection. We have had Memp 6months and only now are we getting back our snuggly girl.
2. 2 boxers = twice the gas ( please dont say you werent warned! )
3. You will need to invest in a few BIGGER things ie bed, car, couch anywhere you would like to be without 2 babies right on top of you.
4. They will get into more mischief and they will dob on each other, this makes disciplining had when you are trying not to laugh at one or the other!

All this being said you get in return, twice the love, cuddles and laughs. You will be amazed at how cute your babies playing and sleeping together looks. And there is nothing in the world like coming home to 2 boxers waiting at the gate for you!

We have only had our new pup a little over a week and even though there are the normal pains (potty-training), it has been fantastic. Tyson is absolutely in love with his little brother and has been remarkably not jealous at all. We of course give him lots of cuddling and big-boy play time (tug, frisbee).

We have even commented that it is nice to have a babysitter. We can leave Dex for a few minutes and Ty will watch him, vs. when we got Ty and couldn't let him out of site for 2 seconds.

I say go for it!

Completely Boxer Crazy
I had 1, went to 2 for 7 months and now back to 1, lemme tell ya we are looking into rescues like crazy to find one just suitable for our Rocky... it's heartbreaking to see him lonely after knowing what it was like to have another play with him just the way he likes it... BOXER STYLE

I wish you and US the best in finding an addition to our families...:p

I wish you luck too. About an hour ago, I recevied a call from the Boxer Rescue in New Albany, OH. They have an 8 mo old brindle male that sounds like a match for my Sally ( and me). My vet actually called on my behalf to let them know I would be a great placement. So excited about this!!!!

I guess I'm on the other side of the fence because I feel 1 dog is perfect for us. For a long time, we had planned to get another Boxer. Mackensie absolutely loves other Boxers, or any dogs at that, but as she gets closer to 2 years old, I feel more and more like she is the perfect "only" dog. She has three skin kids to play with, and is very well socialized with other dogs, and I feel like adding another will totally throw off the harmony of our home. I like things just the way they are...
Now all of you will be teasing me in another year or two when I do a 180 and get another one won't you? HA

I absolutely must agree with everyone that it's wonderful having 2, and i wouldn't trade it for the world! DH said the only way we could have 3 is if we got a white one-- so i'm on the prowl!!

and they DO get into twice the mischief, but you get twice the snuggling, twice the warmth and kisses, and of course, twice the gas!

good luck!!
