My husband and I have been married about 6 months now. We love our two furbabies to death! We do want skinkids, but we are forever saying what are our skinkids going to be like if we treat them like our furbabies?? They will be spoiled beyond belief!!

I hear of stories where a couple has a new skin baby, then abruptly decide the dog has to go to another home now that they have "real children". (A couple of our friends are doing this right now, and it just breaks my heart. They will be sending their couch potato St. Bernard to a rescue group because they don't want him around their skinkid.)

My husband and I say we already have two kids; we want to add two more!

Just to add... if for some reason we can't have skinkids, then are furbabies will more than make up for it and we won't be too devastated.

This is me, too. I am the oldest of the family. And my sisters already are married and have kids. The way I figured is, I did a lot of raising of kids when I was younger. My parents worked crazy crazy hours. Since I was 5 or 6 I helped bathe, do homework, cleaned, cooked and got them off to school in the morning.

I was basically the (second) mommy. I did my duty. I may not have bared them, but I did help raise them. This is my time and I love my boxer babies.

I don't know about anyone else but I find that I get a lot of negative remarks from people when I say that I don't want kids. I've had a horrible time dealing with people trying to convince me that it will be different "when i have my own" and I'd love them more than anything, and my life won't be fulfilled. These are also the same people that try to tell me that we have too many dogs for the most part. I often feel like telling them they have too many kids, and am tempted to give them lists of reasons dogs are better than skinkids (no disrespect meant for those with skinkids - just expressing frustrations with people who try and impose their opinions on me)

I feel the exact same way! I always have to defend my decision to be who I am and to live the way I want. I am currently defending my decision to my brother (who does not accept my fur babies as kids).

I have had a lot of "men" "guys" "boys" take advantage of me ortry and control me in the past. I am a strong independant single woman and I really don't need someone taking care of me. I'm fine really. I am happy and content with my life just the way it is.

ps. At the age of 11 I wanted a hystorectomy. I knew then, I was not going to be having kids. smashicon

My biological clock has finally started to tick a bit but I still doubt we will have kids. My FI doesn't want them at all. I keep considering getting a little dog when we add another one to the family but Hugo has just been the best dog ever! I can't imagine ever being without a Boxer around.

I am 25, my husband 27, and we have been married for 9 years. We have wanted children all along and still hope maybe...someday. But Sidda and our other furbabies fill the spot as much as possible and we love spoiling them rotten!

No skin kids here for me!! I am going to be 30 and hubby 31 and neither of us have any desire at all. We are just animal people and that is it. All my friends have at least one and are working on 2. They keep telling me I better hurry and I tell them I could care less. Hubby and i are just not parent material. We are pretty much loners who enjoy eachother's company and the company of fur kids!! We are low on money right now and Danny's cousin keeps telling us we should get rid of Muggsey because that would be one expense out of the way!!! I told Danny to tell him that that is like saying to someone with a kid,"Hey, money's tight looks like you are going to have to put your kid in a foster home because it costs to much!!" Some people just dont get it smashicon

Hear! Hear! Why cant people understand that a pet is for life? They are part of your family, and you dont just throw them away because it is inconvenient. ARGH! Some people!!!!

My sister seems to think that the only reason we've decided to get a pup is because we really would want children!!! i think that was wishfull thinking on her part, hehe!

We have our baby and she is beautiful, still not sure if we want "skin kids" we're happy enough with things as they are, except we would like to get another furbaby:LOL:

Okay...I might not have any business posting on this thread because I have 3 skin-kids. I just want to add that I wish my skin-kids would listen the way my fur-kids do!!
To those who are being pushed into marriage and babies by family members...an email I received not too long ago went something like this...
Girl is getting very annoyed at an older Aunt who at all family weddings would say to her "this could be you next". So at a family funeral, she finally shut her Aunt up when she pointed to the casket and said "this could be you next"!!:p
