Boxers have another ally

Maiya, our 8 year old daughter is educating the world about boxers, one neighbor at a time. Maiya takes Bongo, out boxer girl on many walks. It is their special time. She is the neighborhood's social butterfly. She came home the other day and said some of the kids in the neighborhood did not want to play with her anymore because she has "that pit bull". Maiya's only knowledge/experience with pit bulls is from the sensationalism and bad incidences on the news. She handled it like a champ...said "she is a boxer and is very nice, come and pet her and see." Now we have a whole neighborhood full of boxer lovers! Out of the mouths of babes.

Good on her! But every time I hear a story like this I feel worse and worse for the 'pits' (and I NEVER thought that would happen).
How awful that people can say things like that without even any knowledge of the dog and especially that parents would teach their kids to be so nasty to another child. Obviously you've brought her up no to worry about what other people say and thats great.

And indirectly maybe some people who see an 8 year old handling a large dog with ease, will learn that maybe large dogs aren't so 'bad' after all... :D
