I've never heard of it, but as part of my ongoing search for Biff's wee sister (We will be visiting a potential candidate this week-end), I came across a breeder advertising pups born without tails - is this possible or is it just a way around the docking ban?

Perhaps they are "Bobtail Boxers" They are bred here also and born with a naturally short tail (although you wouldn't say no tail, it's just, well, bobbed).
Apparently someone bred a Boxer with a Corgi to introduce the Bobtail gene, then bred back to Boxers. Sufficient generations have passed now that they are now recognised by the ANKC as Boxers.

Yes there is a breeder who breeds bobtail boxers, has done for a number of years now. Is this the ojne your talking about?

No, they are not advertised as Bobtails - they are in Yorkshire, I saw the advert on the champdogs website.

Just had a look, wonder why born without tails then?
Bit shady if you ask me otherwise considering todays docking ban you'd think they'd elaborate on why they have no tails.

At a guess I'd say it's because the sire of the litter is probably a bobtail ;) That guess based on knowing that at least one bobtail litter has been produced by that kennel.

Edit to add - it is certainly a bobtail, as examination of the pedigree will show you. The pup in question is a 7th generation bobtail.

 I like to hedge my bets, we are going to see Lily this weekend, so hopefully she WILL be Biff's wee sister, but I'm addicted to looking for litters at the moment, just in case ;)

Ahhh, I understand! I'm searching the Rescues and it will be minimum 6 mo before I can even seriously look to bring another furbaby home. (we're moving in December) Don't forget your camera this weekend, we need to see those pics!!
