Boxers attack elderly woman

I just went and read the article and this scares me because I'm afraid it will be blown out of proportion despite being only 1 incident. We just moved to Littleton a few months ago and I'm scared that Boxers will be banned like Pit Bulls (they aren't here but are in nearby places). We have a friend in Aurora with an AmStaff and he had to pay a fine and has to carry 100,000 in insurance just to keep his dog. He also has to have a sign on his house saying he has a "vicious" dog.

The funny thing is guys dog doesn't have to be taught to be mean.Sometimes its from not being taught anything.

Some people have dogs and they don't really pay attention to them, they just throw them out in to the yard and give them food whenever but there is no interaction really with the dogs so the dogs have their own pack and their own rules and when they get loose they do whatever they want.


Sometimes even well trained dogs will do this, it usually happens when they are in a pack ( 2 or more), dogs think it is fun to chase down prey and attack it, weather its a cat, another dog, or a person. thats what happened to the old lady. Even the sweet puppies that we have in our homes would probably do that if they were cut loose everyday to go anywhere they wanted with other dogs. They create there own pack and they stop thinking about their owners because then the pack leader is boss.

But on another note..why is it you only hear when the "big, bad" dogs attack?? I have heard just as many if not more horror stories of lap rats attacking and biting! For once I'd love to see a picture of a nasty chichiuaa (spelling WAY off I know..) that attacked and bit someone or who've attacked other animals, sure the bite wounds aren't as severe as a bigger dogs bite but they do attack and they are nasty!. I have a nasty scar on my face from one of those "precious cute as a button" lap rats..I don't recall my attack (and it was a vicious one at that) making the news nor was the dog put down or anything else..hummmm wonder why that is

A dog attacking a human or another animal is just that..regardless of how big the dog is and how long/deep the bite marks are..

Good point Donna - both my dh and I have were viciously attacked by different chihuahuas, and have the facial scars to prove it. In both instances, they went right for the face without provocation. ~ Cathy

..that's somewhat odd to hear about....I wonder if the other is truly a Boxer too....I'd like to know all circumstances surrounding the attack.

I hope the little old woman is ok...But I too want to hear the full story

What's sad is that they already have banned pitbulls in Denver so hopefully they don't blow this story out of proportion!

We'll be moving to Colorado Springs in July-I refuse to give up my babies for the Army! They better not ban boxers, my husband would probably go Awal before giving up Tyson!

Tyson gets nervous when he sees his shadow, can't imagine him EVER going after anyone. So very sad when people mis-treat their pets-hope they don't have kids too, if so-can't imagine how they'll turn out.

There hasn't been any talks of baning any breeds in Colorado Springs to my knowledge so you should be fine there!
