Boxer terminology..

Hi all,

So I've been browsing the topics and getting great advice and tips since I've joined this "family" of Boxer lovers and can't wait to welcome my boy into my home in less than 2 weeks. One thing I haven't quite caught onto are a couple of terms I've seen used...

"beaning" and "woo woo (apparently a sound?)"

What do these refer to and can I expect Riley to be engaging in these things? What are some other Boxer querks?

Beaning is when they turn thier heads toward thier tails until they almost touch and at the same time they dance around in circles because they are so excited you are home, cooking supper, etc. The woo-woo is when they put thier heads up and do not bark and do not howl, but woo-woo-also the thrill of seeing you, the special toy, treat Boxer burns are also a favorite-mad, pointless running in the same pattern until they throw themselves on the ground (or your lap) exhausted with joy!

Don't forget jackhammering - the ability to jump repeatedly with only the front feet at a favorite toy (or anything else of interest on the ground). There are some videos posted of the phenomenom, if you haven't seen it in person.

ELubas and Zomo........your posts made me laugh out loud :D

DrewnRiley.......also be prepared for jackhammering (where they jump with both front feet on something) and be prepared for boxer farts that will drive you right out of the house :D

All that said, I wouldn't own another breed besides a Boxer :D :D

Oh, by the way, DrewnRiley, take TONS of pics. They grow up WAY too fast. Enjoy all those puppy kisses (and the puppy breath that goes with it), the snuggling in your arms (he will soon be too big), and the silly little baby snores (they get WAY bigger and noisier) :D

But you will love him even more the bigger and noisier he gets.........:D

Just take LOTS of pictures (even if you don't post them, you will be glad you have them).

Congrats on the new boy!! Also be prepared for lots of slobbery kisses and loads of drool, especially if they know they are going to get a treat!! Boxer farts are absolutely obnoxious. And the facial expressions - too many to name!!

What about when the lip gets stuck to the one canine....or the ear flipping inside out?? Love it!

Oh you can bet that Riley will be sick of the camera very quickly (unless he turns out to be a show-off). Can't wait for all of the things everyone has mentioned...I guess that since we don't get to choose the traits I'll put up with the flatulence...haha. Although he'll have plenty of competition...his cousin (my sister's American Bulldog) can rip one like a champion. :D

Mambo does most of the above although not all - just letting out the biggest sigh as we type.... Thank god not big on the gas - only very occassionally. Rarely barks - in fact makes very little noise except for snoring. Definetely makes you feel very guilty all the time. Cries for no real reason - just a sulk. The face gets you in every time..... lovicon
