So i brought my new boxer puppy home this week. He is male 7 weeks old. My male chihuahua (Peanut) is not liking him. I havent bought a bed for the boxer yet so he is sleeping in Peanut's bed which is big enough for both but Peanut will try to pull it away from him or he will just lay on the floor because he wont share. Also when playing all Peanut does is bite the boxers's legs and ears. I scold him sometimes when the boxer makes a crying noise. And he stops but then the playful boxer will come back for more. When Peanut is drinking water and the boxer comes near to drink too, Peanut will let out a strong growl making the boxer scared. Peanut has always been a nice kind dog with othes unitl now. I am more concerned about the leg and ear biting. How can i make them get along. i thought Peanut was gonna be playful and sweet like he was with other dogs. Also, excuse my english mistakes it is not my native language.

As long as your boxer pup is coming back for more, I wouldn't be overly concerned. I would definitely get your boxer his own bed and maybe his own water bowl.

I definitely would have more than one bed for your pets especially if you decide not to allow them on your bed or sofa. This way they have their own place of rest and you can train them to "go to place" when you need to get them out from under foot (i.e. when company comes over). They have a safe place to lay down.

Peanut will need to get used to your new addition and hopefully they'll adjust soon. I'd just keep watching them when they interact together and if play referee if needed. Sometimes puppies can be a "bug-a-boo" and when we first brought Bishop home I would put him behind the gated area in hallway when I had to do housework and couldn't watch my older female with him. In our household it was the puppy bothering the adult dog at first. The puppy would constantly bite my adult dogs legs constantly and he would bite hard/ so I wanted to give her a break. She became adjusted to Bishop really fast and she would lay there right by gated door waiting for him to come out & play. Congratulations on your new addition they are super cute when they are in puppy stage.

I honestly wouldnt worry too much about it. Im sure peanut has been an only child for a while, so bringing in a new pup is a big transition for him. My friend recently got a boxer puppy as well ( my boxer puppy Bubba's brother ) and she has a jack russel terrier that was an only child for quite some bit. The jrt wanted nothing to do with the new boxer, would not cuddle, play, would not want to be near the puppy. My friend was worried that the jrt would not like the puppy. About a week or so passed, and now they chase eachother, cuddle, play, eat together. They get along really great now. All it takes is patience and time, peanut will eventually understand that the puppy is a new member of the family and will warm up to him in no time.
