It's only good if people did their research and know what they are getting. I agree that it just makes the wrong people want them, encouraging the wrong people breeding them. Same thing happened to Jack Russells when Frazier was popular. Not everyone can handle the little psychos

Of course, none of us on here needed the AKC to tell us what great dogs boxers are!

I consider that really bad news. It will just encourage puppy mills and back yard breeders to produce boxer pups with no consideration to their long term health or to meeting the breed standards. :(

My thoughts exactly. When a breed becomes more popular, I don't think of it as a good thing at all. Of course I LOVE my Boxer, but I know that the greedy will try to work it to their advantage and produce even more unhealthy babies to make money on. :(

We had tons of boxers come into rescue at Christmas, my friend who had boxers while growing up said they were always this popular and I told her no where I lived I never laid eyes on one till I was 12 I think they are way more popular now and I guess thats true according to the stats. My rescue is a puppymill boxer and the looks I get from people when she is out in public with her saggy boobs makes me feel like wearing a shirt saying I didn't do this to her. I saved her.

I'm afraid this was my 1st thought too.

I agree. There are two large boxer rescues out here in Massachusetts and I am sure they have seen an influx of rescues each time the boxer inches up on the AKC list. Sad.

Yep I saw that last night when I was updating my AKC member info. Also was searching for the Midwest Boxer club, so we can try and join with my two babies...
