Abbey had been having a lot of digestive problems and we put her on chicken and sweet potato and she was back to normal after about 24 hours. If you aren't seeing any improvement after 6 days and you haven't already you should probably take her in to the vet to make sure there isn't another underlying problem. I know you said she is having eye boogers if they yellow or greenish she probably has an upper respiratory infection, even if they aren't it wouldn't hurt to take her in. Especially if you have tried chicken & rice and a different starch and protein source without any improvement.

We put Abbey on Fromm which is a 5 star food on DFA (if that matters to you) and have had great results with it and she had a really hard time on everything else we tried so if the Natural Balance doesn't work out it may be something else you might want to try. Every dog is different so what works for one may not work for another. When we tried to switch her gradually over to other foods we tried her stools would immediately begin to get softer until after 2 or 3 days when she would have full blown diarrhea. With the Fromm we switched her over a 4 day period (which is actually kind of quick you may want to do a 7 day switch starting with 1/4 new food for two days, 1/2 new food for two day, 3/4 new food for two days, and then all new food on the 7th day), her poops never started getting soft with the Fromm it was a very easy transition and really reaffirmed to me that it was the right food for her. One way or another it is pointless to switch her until they have firmed up and if they haven't so far I would take her in to make sure she hasn't picked up a bug of some sort.

I don't know much about the vitamins. Sorry. But for the loose stools, you could also try a tablespoon (I think) of 100% pure pumpkin daily. But more than that will cause more loose stools. I hope this all helps you out. I know Tyson had problems like that when we got him. Went with Canidae chicken and rice. Worked great! Then they changed the formula, and back to square one. I actually got him on the raw diet. It worked great. Small poops, less gas (except for fish days :D). But I am in the process now of trying to find him a kibble. I don't know how you feel about raw, but if you give a chicken leg quarter (bone and all) at 1 meal instead of kibble, that may work better than anything. Just don't feed it at the same time as the kibble (different digestion rates). You could give it to your guy when you put him in his cage while your at work maybe. When I do this, keeps Tyson busy. I give it to him frozen. The bone actually helps to stiffen up bowel movements. Just a suggestion :)

IMO I would think it is just as "gentle" as the rice. I would definately try a different carb. It just doesn't seem right to me that your baby is still having problems, which makes me think even more probably the rice. Or as suggested before, try oatmeal. Give it a few days to see how it goes. I know it's so frustrating for you and your baby. Been there and done that.

I picked up the Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Duck today as I noticed it is totally grain free. I think I am going to give this one a shot before I try the NB Lamb and Rice. We are totally off the rice. He actually had a good, not perfect but much improved, poop this morning so there is hope. I am going to continue the boiled chicken and gradually introduce the NB Sweet Potato and Duck over the next week, fingers crossed. We are also going to go to the vet tomorrow night just to get everything checked out. Thanks everyone again for your help, will keep you all posted!

I don't know if it matters in your situation but they do not have a sweet potato and duck it is either Duck and Potato or a Fish and Sweet Potato or a Venison and Sweet Potato but the Duck version is regular potatoes not sweet potatoes.

Went to the vet today and the good news is no parasites or bacteria. The vet gave us 2 prescriptions to help get everything back on track...one is Flagil (not sure if this is spelt right) and I can't remember what the other one was. I feel better knowing everything is ok and hopefully he will be feeling back to himself soon. I mixed in 1 cup of the Natural Balance tonight with his boiled chicken and he seemed to love it. I am going to do this transition super slow and hopefully we will be back to normal again soon. Thanks again everyone for all their support!

Glad the vet visit went well. Just keep up the good work, keep an eye on him and like you said, do the switch really slow. Hope it goes well!!
