Dh took Bodie to the dog park a few nights ago. The park is not separated between big and small. A man who had never been to the park before walked in with 2 yappy dogs (they were yapping, I'm not just stereotyping!) and announced that his dogs do not like to be approached from the rear. The two dogs ran around riling up the rest of the dogs and barking in all their faces. When they came to Bodie he barked back, crouched, pounced and boxed one in the face. The owner became irate and screamed at DH, "Your dog HIT my dog." He just kept screaming that Bodie hit is dog over and over. While trying not to laugh in his face, DH explained that they were DOGS and that is how they play. The owner was furious, almost fought DH, and after realizing that Bodie was not leaving the park for "hitting", left the park himself. It is now a joke around the park that Bodie hits dogs!

 Bodie you big bully you! :D I'm sorry, but that really is too funny, after all who in the world would really be surprised that a boxer did box another dog?

Silly man, lucky someone didn't punch his lights out. smashicon I've never really understood why folks like that go to a dog park. But my guess is he won't be back if he sees Bodie or any other boxer! Way to go Bodie! appicon

See, this is my big issue with little dog owners. Most feel it's okay to let their dogs run about yapping and nipping at the other dogs' legs because they're after all, just little babies. But let Mackensie, or any bigger dog for that matter, try to engage them in play, normal dog behavior, and the owner freaks out! Our neighbor thought it was so funny to encourage her min-pin to "tease" Mackensie when she was on her leash, or in the yard behind the fence. But, when Mackensie was out it was another story. Mackensie would run and try to play with the dog and the owner screamed "Oh My God, she's going to eat him", or "she's going to step on him". Then she would grab him up and cuddle him saying things like that big meany, or what a bully. HELLO!! Bully dogs come in all shapes and sizes. I feel like "big dogs" always get a bad rap... You should have said, Okay if you tell your dog not to annoy mine by yapping and nipping her legs, then I'll tell my Boxer not to box!

At least most people find it funny when one of our boxer kids "hits" another dog! At the dog park the other day, Riker saunters up to a HUGE rhodesian ridgeback and just punches him in the face! Of course he then ran for hills!
