Anyone utilize a blog for income?
I know nothing about blogging but am in the process of reading everything that I can get my hands/eyes on.
I have a wonderful idea (at least I think so) and want to try my hand at it. I don't plan on getting RICH by any means but would like to see some sort of profit.
I am not computer savvy but was able to create my own business website by actually reading and following directions!
The domain name I want for the blog is available too so I took that as a good sign.
Any experiences to share?

Sorry no experience here, but let me know when it's up, because I love blogs. If you are only doing it as a business then make sure it has a great novelty/hip idea to it. You can always do the opinion/news, but that doesn't pull as much revenue as the previous metioned. I hate to say it, but probaly the most profitbale blogs( network, cakewrecks,passive agressivenotes,post secret, stuff white people like, etc) were started out of fun and the revenue came later. I recently started a blog, but really know nothing about it as far as making income. I just do it to promote my husband's racing. It has been a lot of fun and after just two months I am up to 300 subscribers. I use Go Daddy blog product and post video and pictures about his racing. Pretty easy. How do you make revenue? Advertising, I assume? I thought about trying to get a sponser for my blog if I can build a good following. Good luck with your blog, hope you pass along any good tips!

The topic is one that is sure to bring on viewers/subscribers and is timeless. It won't EVER go out of style.
My research has shown that in order to profit (by advertising) with a blog, is to actually own the domain name and utilize a platform that offers the additional option of space for advertisers. Still researching......learning as I go!

I'm a LONG WAY from start-up. Just learning about the ins and outs right now. As far as profit.....that is even farther away! But I would certainly ask permission before posting.

Just wondering if you have secured your domain name yet? Even if you are a ways away it only costs about 10 bucks a year to register the name, and you will be sure not to lose it. If you've come up with a nice "snappy" one you don't want to lose it to one of those people that buy up names and sell them for a huge profit.

I have not purchased the domain name yet. It isn't a common name...more of a phrase. I like it and think it is catchy but DH keeps making me 2nd guess my decision!
So I continue to go back and forth!
