Reading that also made me think of the scene in Birds. What an experience that would be! I know I would be avoiding that area!

Linda,
Do I need to send Jack the BirdDog?? Let me know, he stands ready to go wherever the quest for evil birds may take him!! djk

We need Jack quick! I took Ginger out this morning to do her business and I was walking and again it happened. I screamed and hope no neighbor saw this. So embarrassed. Yes, I have one of those fake owls on my deck, I am thinking of attaching it to myself somehow for protection. Just kidding. It did not bother Ginger but we will see this afternoon when she is out playing. I know they are protecting their young. Come on over Jack, we need your help.:)

Dress like a BIG cat!!!!

LOL, that won't work.
I've watched blackbirds divebomb my cat several times and my cat is know as the "Mighty Hunter" in this here part of country.

I let my cat outside and every blackbird in the area starts screeching out the warning, all living creatures run for cover and the attack is on. I actually feel sorry for the cat. I don't know how he doesn't throw out his back the way he flips in the air trying to fend them birds off.

My aunt told me she is buying me a helmet for my birthday. She said an umbrella too. The blackbird dived at Ginger and she looked at me "like what the heck was that Mom". She is a chicken too. Then it tried to get me again. My hubby is away for a few days for work and I told him about the blackbird problem, he laughed. I said wait till Saturday when you try and cut the grass, good luck. Oh, I have gone out with a broom and just keep swinging when they get close. Hopefully this ends soon.

The blackbirds sound as bad as the magpies are here - it can drive you nuts, what a pain Linda.

Here are the tips we get every Magpie Season:

Walk carrying a stick over your shoulder as the magpie will avoid attacking unless it has a clear flight path over your head. You could try attaching flags or streamers to the stick. You can try bike helmets or a hat. Drawing and sticking eyes onto headwear is an added deterrent because the birds are less likely to attack someone who's looking at them. Wear glasses to protect your eyes.

I've seen people wear a face mask on the back of their head. Have also seen people paint or stick a few pairs of 'eyes' on umbrellas.

Ginger sounds so brave LOL. Ruben and I were attacked by Pluvers a few weeks ago and he first tried to climb into my arms, and then decided to hide betweem my legs smashicon

Good luck!!

I think the baby birds may have gone on their own. Yesterday we did not get attacked at all or today, I hate to speak too soon. I hear more baby birds in our neighbors bushes. Have not been brave enough to go down the end of our yard. These birds also wreck havoc on our flower beds & mulch, they are obviously looking for food but messing up everything. For now I think we are safe.
