bio spot and nutro

im not sure if I posted this to the right place or not, but here it goes...

Has anyone every used Bio spot? I saw it in the JB pets catalog and thought I would ask. My clan in now on frontline, but the cost difference in the two is extraondinarly big. Not that I would skimp on my babies, but if it is being used and people seem to have compreable results to frontline, I don't see the harm in saving a little money on this so I can spoil them with something else right? Also, I have been feed Canidae, but the gas coming from my dogs has been unbearable. I know everyones dogs react different, and I though it might be them detoxifing like I have heard from the list before, but after several months it has not improved and I don't think I can keep living with it as it is. I was looking into somehting more simple. What are anyone opinions on Nutro-Natrual Recipe Chicken and Rice?

Hi, Gretchen, my name is Gretchen too!!! I don't meet too many Gretchens! I have used Bio Spot on all 3 of my dogs and we have never had any fleas. It works well for us. Also, I have fed all 3 dogs Nutro brands since I've had them, the girls are on large breed adult and my older Vizsla is on senior. They all like it and they are all healthy and their coats look great. And we don't have many gassy episodes either! I would reccommend these products to anyone. Good luck!

When I got Tae through rescue, she was on Purina Beneful. I switched her to Nutro Max Large Breed Adult and the smelly gas practically vanished within 1-2 weeks. Now she just makes occasional emissions that I can hear. Personally, as long as they aren't stinky, I think it's funny :D

We use Bio Spot also. We have never had any fleas and Gidget has never had any adverse reaction to it. It's much cheaper than anything else and effective. That's enough for me and Gidget.

I only use frontline. I had a flea issue with my kitten when I first got her, and swore I would nevr go through that again! I did however do some research on buying it elsewhere and having it shipped. On the website I found, it's about $35.00 for 6 packets for dogs 44-90lbs. Shipping is pretty cheap. As for food. We are trying Chicken Soup for The Dog Lovers Soul, and we have had little to no gas. We did have a gas problem on Royal Canin Holistic, it is a very good food as well, but did not agree with us. I also use the suggestion I see on here all the time, which is a spoonful of plain yogurt daily. Good luck.

Glad to hear about Bio, we are always looking for good stuff for less money. As you said, so you can spend the extra on something fun. We have feed Nutro to Max since we got him 14 mos. ago and Odi was switched when he came 2 weeks ago. Both of them are doing great on it, shiny coat, good muscles, and very little gas from Max, Odi has some bad stuff yet, but I figure that still some transition to new food and routine gas. One other thing, I find if I don't feed table scraps or other people food the gas is MUCH better. So mine get no table treats!

Adam & Evie are on Nutro Natural Lamb & Rice. They love it!!! The gas problem has been significantly cut down. Although Adam, being a pup, still has episodes of unbearable, open the windows, put him in the kennel, gasping for air gas!! LOL. Thankfully, it's only once in a while! LOL Now that Evie is older, she has very little gas like that. Is bad gas just a puppy thing? hope so!

I would be wary of buying and using any "over-the-counter" flea control. A friend of my daughters had a kiten with fleas and bought and used a brand from the pet store (I think it was Hartz not sure) and her kitten recieved a TOXIC dose of pesticide and died!:eek:

While it may save you a few dollars a year, is it really worth your animals life? The cheaper products all genrally have the same dosage no matter what the size of animal (I do not care what the package says, read the ingrediants). I have had a only a few flea outbreaks with my critters but when I do I go directly to the vet and get Advantage. Works like a charm every time!

And as always when ever applying a flea medication keep an eye on your animal for at least the first 24 hours in case of allergic reaction or toxic overdose!

thats interesting, the write up in JB said it had a version for cats and ferrets, i wonder if the make up of the two different kinds are that different.
