Big faker or no???? (long..sorry)

Ok, so I am not sure what to do and maybe after explaining some of you have experienced this and have some advice...

Last Friday Aspen came in from outside with a cut on her paw ( on the pad). Of course we babied her etc etc etc. I cleaned it up, it stopped bleeding, no big emergency. So later on in the day Mason began limping. I thouroughly examined his leg and paw, no cut, no "area of pain" when I pressed on it.... So my husband and I agreed that if he was still limping on Monday I would take him to the vet. But here is where it gets interesting. When he doesn't think we are looking HE DOES NOT LIMP, he runs and plays in the yard etc etc etc. ( He had no problem jumping in the expedition for a ride, he has no problem getting into our bed etc etc) So yesterday ( monday) I changed my mind 15 times about taking him to the vet. He still seems to favor his paw/leg ( when we are looking) but I just cannot afford to spend hundreds of dollars for a big faker. ( of course I have $$$ set aside for emergencies but if I spend it on this and it is not an emergency I won't have the $$$ for a real emergency...... Right now I just need some advice cause I would never forgive myself for not taking him........ Didn't sleep at all last night

My kaite is a big faker too! she was bitten by my foster and for the first day she limped, and then she started limping for a couple of days after that but only when someone was looking at her. I even caught her looking at me to see if i was watching. That being said, i also know that boxers (especially mine) have a very high pain tolerance so he may not be faking but just tolerating it. i would definitely take him to the vet. Seems to me that if something is wrong, a simple office visit should be able to determine that. They may even put him on antibiotics as a just in case.If you have a good relationship with your vet, you could ask him to call you and tell him what is going on, that way he/she will be aware of the situation when you go in and spot if he is faking! sorry i wasnt more help! If he has kept it up for several days, I would probably consider going to the vet just for a check up. Even tho you can't see anything, he may still have something going on. I think best to have it checked to be sure. Then you won't have to worry about it.

If you don't mind, I'll tell a quick faker story:

I have an Akita that lives at my parents house and some time ago my brother accidently ran over her back end and broke her leg up near the hip joint. She was taken to the vet and ultimately is doing okay but....she still favors her leg a lot when people are paying attention. On the other hand if she sees a rabbit, man, she is off like lightening and plays with Coco when we're down to visit with no probs. Her name is Babi and boy does it fit her... She really favors that leg when she thinks someone is going to feel sorry for her when I know it doesn't hurt her all the time. She's a bit of a faker. I think these babies of our are very very smart and know exactly how to get to us.

I have given myself a stomach ache changing my mind a thousand times. So tomorrow morning I will call the vet and get him in. My one concern is that we just moved here and although our pup has been to this vet to get spayed Mason has never seen this vet. I am not concerned about the vet, I checked them out thouroughly and am very comfortable with them but I guess I am just worried that the only thing they'll be able to do is X-rays which will cost a fortune. I certainly am not cheap when it comes to my fur kids and have always taken them to the vet so I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea, I have just never had a doubt before. Nonetheless, I'll let you know what the Doc says ( one thing nice about living in the county, the vet is very accomodating!!!)

If he doesn't find anything wrong with his ''hand'' exam, I don't think he'll do the x-rays. Because if anything is wrong, he'll feel it for sure.

That said, I think almost all boxers are big fakers. I swear to God, Krose deserves an Oscar for his acting!! :D

This dog is known to limp for 4 full days at my mother-in-law's house. It disappeared mysteriously when we finally came back from our vacation !
He is known not to eat for 2 full days just because he felt like to be fed from my hand!
He is also known to fake his allergies and begin licking his paws constantly until Baris gets him and puts him on his lap:p

He deserves an Oscar, right?

I sincerely hope nothing is wrong with Aspen, but this sure made me chuckle. Gunther has a few tricks up his sleeve .... paw? but I haven't caught on to any faking yet. But I've been known to fall for stuff. Now I'll have to watch more closely.
