Hey Tina,

Hang in there!! It can only get better. Look at it this way, it is going to be a new 2005 and you can make it what you want. Atleast that is what I am trying to tell myself. DH and I are trying to decide if we want to call it quits or if our marriage is worth trying one more time (I just dont know how many times you can try before enough is enough). I guess either way if we stay together there are no guarantees that was the right decision and if we divorce there are no guarantees that was the right decision. I just feel at this point we both deserve to be happy...(im just not sure what that means) I am going to be 34 and it is scary, I know.
Keep your head up!!

Take care

When my BF of 4 years moved out I definitely needed something to fill the quiet time. Something that really helped me....I joined a boxer rescue. Now I get to make other people and really great dogs have happy endings. I haven't quite found my own happy ending...but I did end up with a beautiful boxer boy! Now I don't have as much time to dwell on the negative. Think about it. I know it seems like a lot, but I work full time and go to school so I just do what I can to help.

starting fresh

Tina,
I just read this thread for the first time. I was struck by what you said re: everyone over 16 being married. You have a great sense of humor! I am one of those "married people" and I am also your age. As you know, just because someone is married, it doesn't mean that they are happy.
Think of it this way, now you can focus on yourself! You can buy the gorceries that you want, watch what you want on TV, study when you feel like it, etc., etc. At least you have Owen to hug. Someone else also mentioned a book called "Are you the one for me?" I read that when I was nineteen and going thru a very bad breakup. At first I thought it would be really cheesy, but it ended up being pretty thought provoking. Hope that everything works out for you.

P.s. be careful w/ the roomate. Hopefully you can find someone you know at least a little bit. Good luck!

I am 32 and happily married but I had plenty of bad relationships before I found my DH.I had given up on ever finding anybody and decided to focus on myself for once. When I wasn't expecting to or even lookinig to find somebody, I met the right guy. My advice to you is enjoy being single and focus on You. It is better to be by yourself than with the wrong person.

These two books seriously make things so clear with relationships and how they are supposed to be. I kinda beat myself up over not reading them/them not being available to me when I was younger than 17. Both books are by Josh Harris and they are called "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" and then the second is "Boy Meets Girl." They are both great books and I wish I had followed the plan. He has a website too. Another great couple that deals with relationships, marriage and such are Eric and Leslie Ludy. Now, I will tell you guys that these people teach more on a religous level, so those that are offended, I'm sorry. But this is about the only advice I can give that I know helps.

When my mom was very sick with cancer several years back, she looked at me one day and said "TTSP."

THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

No matter how difficult things seem now, they will pass and you will be happy and fulfilled again. Give it time. It is OK to cry, be depressed, angry and plain ticked off at the world and even be angry at people who are in happy realationships. This is all a part of healing and moving on.

All the best, hang in there!

I'm 28 and not married...not even a hope in heck of it happening anytime soon either! No boyfriend, good dates, or even anything outside of just friendship.

Feeling sad from time to time is perfectly normal - I very much want to be with someone, but I won't settle. And the strangest thing happened to me last night - I was looking through some old photos and came across some of me and my ex together - keep in mind we've been split up for 1 1/2 years now and I have felt completely over him for a long time! I was looking at these pics of us from 2 years ago and we looked so happy...I got very sad! Called my friend in tears, and he reminded me that we never take pictures of the miserable times...and I know there were enough of those.

After seeing so many of my friends now starting to have their marriages fall apart, I'm feeling convinced that in general, it's not a good idea to get married before you're 30 anyway! No offense to those of you who did, and I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but I just feel that I didn't know myself when I was in my early 20's...now I'm starting to know me a little better, so I feel I am actually capable of finding a good man and falling in love with someone forever.

There's time!!!

I feel to old to be starting over. I know I'm only 28, but I was reading the survey that boxerworld started, and I think I'm the only one on the board over 16 who's not married.

You are not alone. I'm 32 and never married, probably will never be at the rate we are going. I've been with my bf for 12 years, cohabitating for 1 year.

I know how you feel. We broke up about 5 years ago for 1 month. We tried to be friends and do stuff together, but I kept having to go home early because I could not keep the tears from coming. Although it was hard on me, after a few weeks I started to feel much better about being alone.

Anyhow, whatever the outcome is, take this oppourtunity to enjoy yourself! Women can have a tendency to lose their sense of self when in a relationship so now is the perfect time to re-discover that!

My thoughts are with you..... Claire

Hey, I'm 41 and single. Hang in there, someone great will come along when you least expect it.

Grieve the loss of the relationship that way you can get through it.
