Super Boxer
My BF thinks I am ruining my 6 month (1/8/2005)boxer. He gave him to me as a gift. Now I do work with Oscar on a regular basis on obedience, but probably not as much as I should. He knows sit, come, lay down, leave it and off. He is pretty well behaved but when someone new ,furry or not comes along all the training goes out the window. We took him on a off leash walk in a field and there was some dogs that were tied up in someones back yard and Oscar went running up there, completely neglecting our cries for him to come back. Now he goes to the dog park regularly and this has never happened before. Now my BF has got a special leash and all the tools to "Get Seroius About Training." He says it is all my fault because I baby him to much, and that I caused him to have seperation anxiety, whine all the time, pout and and some of his other unruly antics. Now I do baby him but I think some of his bad behavoir is due to being a puppy, and of what I read here some of it may be typical of boxer behavior, specially until they grow up. He made me feel like a bad mom. I certainly want a well behaved dog, but I make allowances due to he is still just a puppy. He's chewing so hide the shoes, give him toys. Jumping don't give him attention until he calms down. Scratching the door, wait until he chooses a more civilized way to let me know he wants inside. Although I am grateful that my BF is going to help with the training, he has a soft heart for animals and I know he won't be cruel or yell during training. But I am so insulted, I don't know if I am just overreacting or I am justified in being angry. From the start he dropped of Oscar "Here's a baby" and has nothing to do in the care of him since. He is just the guy that Oscar gets to play rough with a couple times a week. During housetraining if Oscar peed on the floor, it was like" Cara, Oscar peed on the floor over there you better clean it up." " Oscars water dish is empty maybe you should fill his bowl" and " You spent how much at the vets office, wow that's crazy". He hasn't helped any when it comes to Oscars upbringing, so i am really steamed that he feels that he can even have an opinion on how Oscars being trained. Ok I am done vented, thanks for listening.

. just keep doing what you are doing dont confuse oscar he is a baby after all and is used to mommy training him. if your bf cant clean puppy pee or fill a water dish then he certainly cant take the time to train a puppy. as for serious training take the leash and collar and tell him you are going to use them on him.
