Just wanted to put a post out to everyone to beware of nylabones!! Sarge has had nylabones since we got him at 4 months old. I never leave him alone with them. Today he has thrown up 4 times and every time, there is a piece of nylabone in it!! A pretty large piece at that!! Just wanted to let everyone know because to me since I watch him with his chew toys that he was getting off bigger pieces than I thought and he has been miserable today!!! Needless to say any chew toy that I thought he could get anything off of, today, went into the trash!!!

i never even thought that they could chew it off. Luke loves his nylabones. The last couple of nights he threw up and I think it was after chewing his nyla. I threw them all out yesterday after reading this.

Hope your baby is feeling better.

Hope Sarge is doing better today and doesn't have any more of that Nylabone left in his system! The last nylabone Grunt had was 4 years ago, when we had to remove a big chunk of one out of his throat. :( Scarey! Please let us know how your boy is doing.

Sarge is alot better today!! Threw up a little mucous this morning but sometimes he will do that if he goes too long between meals. Back to his happy go lucky self!!!
Wednesday after I posted, I had to go to work. DH called me about 830 pm and he had thrown up 4 more times. He was up with him until 1 am!! My poor baby!! It was so hard being at work knowing he was sick. and you could tell he was sick too. He had his head hung and tail down. He looked so miserable!!
When I got home from work yesterday morning, gave him a few pieces of food. He did ok with that. Gave him a handful about noon. Did good with that. Fed him his full cup at 5 pm and he ate it like it was gonna disappear if he didn't eat it fast enough!! Had to take it away a couple of times so he would slow down!!
My sister told me on Thursday that she had given her golden retriever a nylabone the night before and she was throwing up at 4 am! Thought maybe it was just Sarge but doesn't look that way now!!
Thank you for well wishes!!!

I'm so glad to hear that Sarge is feeling better. Who would have known? Molly chews on her nylabone all the time. I need to watch her more carefully!!

be so careful

Keep an eye on your pup. We spent $1500 on our girl last spring because she had a piece of nylabone imbedded in her intestines. The unfortunate thing was that it was small enough that the vet couldn't detect it for a few days, but large enough to have her stop eating after a few days. Eventually she went in and had exploritory surgery to find out the problem, and the dr. found the piece of nylabone. It was touch and go for a few more days since her digestive tract was compromised a bit. Fortunately, no signs of infection and she was as good as new in a few days and on solids.
Just keep watch. They say most of that stuff will pass through, we just got unlucky since that piece had a sharp point.
I hope everything goes well. It sounds like your pup will be fine, but no more nylabones
