I'm just being a smart a$$ here, but i wonder about the sign i wanted to put up..."Break in (with a pic of Konah) Make his day" Because technically it would make his day, he LOVES people and would lick them to death. So technically it would be true *L*...what do you all think?

hehehe that one would definitely apply here also, but on a more serious note i hate to advertise that i have dogs I'm so paranoid that they will be stolen. DH says that i watch too much animal cops:rolleyes:

I have a "Boxer Xing" sign on our privacy fence because Cami can't been seen when she is behind it. Aside from jumping other areas of the fence this is the only entry into my backyard. All of the meter readers have met her and know that she is a big lover, and they know that she requires lots of attention when they come in. If I am at home and the fence is opened I can hear it from anywhere in the house and always go immediately outside to see who it is, and she is always by my side.
I never thought about how it avertised that I had a Boxer now I may start to rethink it.

I had a dog a few years ago that was territorial (not a boxer) and he bit a man that walked into our backyard with the dog there. We were forced to put the dog to sleep due to the lawsuit. We were informed by the judge that if we had a "Beware of Dog" sign we would not be held responsible. It is not illegal for people to own "security" dogs, but you have to warn potential intruders that the dog is present and may cause injury. Only the "Beware of Dog" sign would be considered appropriate- none of the other signs that were worded differently. Its very much like a stop sign because it is universal and most everyone knows what it means when they see it. This might just be the case in my state but I also saw on Oprah that the "Beware of Dog" sign is the most effective deterrent of potential home invaders. So there is no way the government can hold the sign against the homeowners. Everybody has the right to protect their property- Bill of Rights.

I have been debating this myself lately and actually thought it was better insurance; liability wise to have one.

Ive been told that you shouldnt use beware of dog, but to use "Dog on Guard" in conjunction with "No Trespassing" . This way people know you have a dog guarding your place if they happen to trespass and this protects you from being sued because they were trespassing in the first place.

I dont currently have any signs but want to get one that says, "My guard dog is in the bushes behind you. Move slowly and act normal." LOL!!!
