Beware of Dog

Even though Cassius is usually great with strangers, I've decided to put up Beware Of Dog signs around my property. Do the rest of you put these up? I kind of want people to be wary of my place.....I want strangers to think I have a big bad guard dog! He stays inside when we're gone, and I have a glass front door, so they'll be able to see him. Just wondering who uses these deterants??? Also does any one know of a good place to order "Boxer" signs? Thanks, Lindsay & Cassius

Well I see them everywhere! I don't use one myself and I wouldn't use a boxer sign,it would just be advertising you have a boxer, just my opponion. Everyone here knows we have a rottie, he just sits in the window, thats all I need.

I am doing this as well. WE've had some trouble with the onary teenagers in our neighborhood and I'm doing all I can to deter them. Also want to deter any possible criminals in the area. Coco is fairly protective but I don't know if she'd actually hurt someone or not. Anytime she's "guarding" we're in the house or outside and make her stay. But anyway...just today I was in Petsmart and I bought my own signs. They actually have metal signs that say "BEWARE Security Dog" and in the middle is an outline of a dog. They were $3.99 a piece. I don't know if they have them on their website or not. I thought the outline of the dog was cute and conicidentally it looks like a boxer. It doesn't bother me if they know I have a boxer cause if they come in the house, they're gonna know for sure.. And...she sits in the window all the time too.

I think signs like, dog on guard, or dog on duty etc are fine a deterrent for sure. The only reason I wouldn't advertise a boxer is because I read a lot of places they use boxers for fighting and thats why they get stolen.

They do have them online....I was wrong about a couple of things....first of all it says "Warning Security Dog" and it's not a boxer...now that I look at it again, it looks more like a dobbie. I wanted to correct myself. They are $2.99 on the web.

Austin sits in the window all the time, too. I have a sign on my gate with a boxer on it that says "I can make it to the gate in 3 seconds. Can you?" I also have a sticker on my front window that says "Warning....protected by a bad a$$ boxer". I had a guy come to my door last week and comment on the sticker. He said his neighbor has a boxer and is a big baby. Yeah, so is Aus but he's not gonna let you in the house! I'd rather people know he's here than not.

Heard this a couple days ago but im not sure if its true or not:

To not put a Beware of Dog sign out cause if someone comes into your yard and they do happen to nip or bite someone even though they are in your yard your still held responsible because you had a sign saying beware of dog and knew the dog had it in them to bite...to instead put a dog lives here or dog in yard sign.

We have a complete fence around our yard which the electric & water guys have to come into our yard and check, so we had a beware of dog sign out even though they only are outside to potty but by some chance im on the other side of the yard and dont see the fence open i dont want them to get out. So i have replaced my beware sign to dog lives here just to let know we have them!
*Even though I don't think my babies would bite anyone i wanted to be extra sure....... and they havent had to protect our home for strangers yet!*

I use a "Beware of Dog" sign. I feel it's more of a detterent than Oscar because he doesn't bark!!

I have a beware of dog sign too, mainly to remind people like my gardener to lock the gate whenever he is working in our yard.

My two will bark at me if I just walk up on the driveway, way before you can see the sign, so I know they'll give any stranger the twice over...

I live out in the country.....

mostly just me and my seven year old son, and the furbabies (husband always on the road on business) I always tell Frankie to "watch" and he perks up, and takes guard. He is a WONDERFUL guard dog. I am always thinking about if someone (a robber, as my son says) comes up here, all I have to say to the "robber" is " I wouldnt if I were you" holding my dogs collar in my hand, while he is growling, and bucking up the whole time. Needless to say, if he took a step towards him, he would duck and run.... Point is, I want people to (think) I have a big bad dog.... My little schnauzer would more likely attack than Frankie would. Ha HA I think I will get a few signs out since I am out here, being a female, and being all by myself. Just so they know to not mess with my Frankie the Guard dog. :D
