Beware of Dog

I have a small beware of dog sign in my window (I live in an apartment). Mainly I have it to remind people (like the barking doesn't) that I do have dogs.

I keep a beware of dog sign in my front window, and another on my gate as a deterant. My male doesn't bark...in fact he barely lifts his head off the couch when someone comes to the door......my female is the watchdog of the two. She patrols the house and the yard.....growls at any strange noise...and barks like mad when someone pulls in the driveway or knocks. I guess my male figures she's doing such a great job, so he doesn't have to..

I have one(Beware of Dog) in the window near front door and one on the back gate. I also have a lock on the gate so no one can enter the backyard. Since my electric meter is in the back, I have to read my own meter and call it in every month and about 2 times a year they set up a time to come and read it while I'm there.
I have also heard about the signs being up making you responsible if anything happens but even without the signs in some areas you are responsible even if someone enters your house, backyard, etc without permission and something happens. I was once told by a lawyer to have NO Trespassing signs up as well to help with that problem. He also said to get one that was universal in meaning since we have such a diverse group of people living in the US that do not read english.

But of course my boxer is just a visual help, the minpins are the real guard dogs. just kidding

Heard this a couple days ago but im not sure if its true or not:

To not put a Beware of Dog sign out cause if someone comes into your yard and they do happen to nip or bite someone even though they are in your yard your still held responsible because you had a sign saying beware of dog and knew the dog had it in them to bite...to instead put a dog lives here or dog in yard sign.

very good point...wonder if thats true?

I have an “in case of emergency, please save my dog” sign. Xena can sense if someone is close to the house that shouldn’t be and barks like mad so I don’t think there’s a chance of anyone missing her :D

I also saw on either Animal Cops or some judge show where a lady was suing someone because a dog attacked her or something like that and the main reason why she won was because the owner of the dog had a Beware of Dog sign. The judge said that the owner knew his dog was dangerous and thats why he put up the sign. I would go with a sign that said Boxer or dog live here message.

We need some kind of a sign saying "dogs being dogs" my friend has a sign she made on her computer and had it laminated, its a picture of her two dogs saying (huskies)

We have a beware of dog sign up. We did it initially because the neighborhood we lived in before had tons of kids. I cannot tell you how many time they have opened our gate to retrieve a ball or something else. Mia the boston is very wary of strangers and will nip and bare her teeth, scaring most of the kids. She actually cornered one kid whose screams could be heard down the street before I could run out to "save" him from Mia. Locking the gate did no good as kids would hop over the fence. The sign is was also helpful for the cable guy (we had the cable box in our yard), so they knew to knock on the front door first. I have a fear of someone opening my gate and the dogs bolting into the street. The sign just helps keep people from opening my gate. I am not sure if anyone is afraid of Rocky as most of my neighbors have been victims of his tongue lashing! But the sign is back up just in case.

Guard Dog

First I will say that I do not consider my 2 buddies to be guard dogs. What they do is protect what is their's. That includes me, the wife (true boss) and the home I have for them. Mess with any of these and the wrath is on you. Now if they are at a park, all is fair as long as "Mom and Dad" are not in the middle or the above rule applies. Friendly and loving are just one side of the coin, run so I can "get fast food" is the other

I have often been told by strangers that Buckaroo would protect me if I needed him too. I look at him and wonder...but I tell them that isn't what I have him for. There are people who will cross the street when they see us. And when we are in stores there are people who will go down a different aisle. But I decided a long time ago, they don't bother me, they must be afraid of dogs. I haven't been in a position to find out really. And am very happy for that. The people in my neighborhood know Buckaroo and know he is a love. Anyone else...?
I have wondered about a sign since there is a daycare next door. I wouldn't want anyone upset if Buckaroo accidentally scratched on of the kids by trying to lick them...thank you for bringing this up.
