Baxter doesn't bark...

Baxter is a white boxer, 15 months old. Just wondering if anyone else has a boxer that doesn't bark? He never does...not to go out (he just stares at you, sometimes nudging you w/ his head), not when the doorbell rings, not when someone knocks on the door, not when other dogs bark. He sits and looks out our front door and NEVER barks!! He plays with the dogs that live behind and beside us and as they bark away, he is quiet! Anyone else??

I'm not sure if there's a problem, you may want to check with the vet, but Dempsey doesn't bark much at all. Unless he's told to. Does your pal make any other noises? Groans or whines, I know a lot of Boxer's like to talk to help express themselves. Let us know if he "speaks"

Boxers are fairly quiet dogs. Barking is really a sign of a frustrated or an insecure dog. A real warning with wolves and balanced dogs is done with body language and growling. I have 8 dogs and the only barker is the 4 pound YORKIE. mia is just over 2 and Piper is just over 1 and neither have EVER, to my knowledge, barked even once. Abby does on occation.

As a pup Darwin never barked...until he visited grandpa's house and learned the behavior from grandpa's two dogs. Even now, he will never bark in the house or on walks, only when he is in the backyard. It is tough to get him to bark on demand too. He always tries to get away with a harrumph when asked to speak.

Biff hardly ever barks either. I wouldn't worry about it - I think we're the lucky ones!

My boxer puppy doesn't bark much either. When I got her I purchased a Boxer book and and it says that boxers don't bark much, if at all. I guess that can be good or bad depending on your situation.

Edgar is very quiet. He only barks inside when he wants to play. Forget the door, visitors, or passersby. Since I fenced in his back yard he does bark top talk to the other dogs.

No Luka doesn't either, Ruby is the barker, she is boss so maybe he feels he doesn't need to!

Our first two boxers, Rocky and Rascal were almost never heard to bark. Indy barks...oh just because. His trainer says he has a lot to say. He grumbles when walking away. He barks when he's bored. He barks when he's happy. He barks when he wants to play. His trainer works on it at daycare. He has passed obedience and CGC with flying colors. I work with him constantly at home. Sigh...He barks!

Baxter, I think you must be an amazing dog. lovicon

Rolen doesn't bark either...the only time he barks is when he gets a ball stuck where he either (a) doesn't want to go get it or (b) he can't get to it. I can say I'm glad he doesn't bark to just bark!
