Delilah hardly barks at all. She barks at the door once or twice and thats it- and only if I am home. She never barks when she is alone. Oh, sometimes my SO can get her playing hard enough to bark, but not often.
she does make the most ferocious sounding growls when she plays, and whines/moans to go outside.
Felix OTOH is deaf and he barks a lot. In the crate if he isn't already sleepy, if he wants something he can't get to, if he is trying to get Delilah to play....
He is only almost 14 weeks so i'm hoping he will grow out of it :/ lol.

Our black lab mix, Sam, barks all the time (at any noise he hears out the windows)! Chief, on the other hand, rarely barks! We may have heard him bark a total of 10 times in 8 months and it's usually a quick "woof" during play with Sam! I, too, am glad he doesn't bark just to bark! ;) However, he makes enough other noises to make up for the lack! But at least the sounds are adorable! :o

Ronin will bark if he see's a cat in the neighbors yard, or if he wants to play and he thinks you're ignoring him - but otherwise he's pretty quiet. I used to have a Boxer who barked ALL the time! He had an affinity for anything shaped like a ball. He'd drop it on the ground and just bark incessantly at it - really annoying. I thank my lucky stars that Ronin is much less vocal regarding barking. Sassing me on the other hand, we still need to work on

WOW! I didn't realize that boxers were supposed to be somewhat quiet dogs. My two bark all the time, but mostly when they see someone or another dog come near the house.

After reading another comment, I now know it is because of insecurity. Well, also because one is very fear aggressive. (working on that) However, I am very jealous that boxers that rarely bark even exist

Thanks for all of your replies!! So glad I'm not the only one out there with a quiet dog! :) He does make some noises, especially if he hears something outside he doesn't like...the hair on his back will stand up and he will kind of let out a small growl, but never barks! Thanks again!!!!!

Umma also does not bark much. Only if she is really excited and wants to play and the other dog has no interest. Then she tries to "convince" him with really deep barks and incessantly jumping in circles. But I am really glad she doesn't bark every time someone passes our house or the door bell is ringing.

Our 9 week old puppy Duke barks all the time, but usually when he just wants to play. He gets in our other dogs face and crouches down and just barks and barks at her until she finally plays with him....its pretty funny. Duke also is very very talkative. He is constantly making some kind of noise, and even does it in his sleep. Hes gotten to where he is our alarm clock....it never fails every morning at 6 oclock he is "talking" to us, telling us its time for him to go do his business and eat breakfast...

Monkey hardly ever barks... the odd time she does I don't even recognize her bark - like it's a neighbor's dog or something! She sounds a lot bigger and older when she actually does it! She does grunt and make little whine/grunts when she wants to go outside. She also has the most dramatic yawns and makes all sorts of noise doing that hah.
