Bath time? How often?

Here we have lots of really sticky red dirt. Really really red, like maroon I guess. Well, as you can guess, red dirt + white toes + frequent play with the neighbor's lab = bath time more often than I would like to have to bathe him. We're usually good for 2-3 weeks, sometimes we just put a couple of inches of water in the tub and have him stand in it to soak his feet, especially if it has been raining recently, then a good rinse of his feet and we don't have to wash all over. (and don't get red footprints!) I would probably do less bathing otherwise.

I don't have a bath schedule.......if they're dirty or they stink they get a bath.

Mine usually get bathed every once a week or week and 1/2, they get pretty dirty playing outside. I use Vet Solutions Aloe and Oatmeal Shampoo, it smells yummy like pina coladas.

Cayenne gets a bath about once a month. She does pretty good in the tub. I use the puppy wipes if she gets stinky and it isn't stinky enough for a bath.

The longest I can stand it is about 2 weeks. Not only are they dirty, but the house is dirtier too. Haven't seemed to have a dandruff problem...also use the oatmeal shampoo..Walmart brand. I also invested in the shower hose and what a difference!! Makes the task so much easier and quicker. And, of course, I can make the water nice and warm and comfortable (not TOO spoiled!).

Now I feel bad. Maggie has had one bath since we got her last September. We bathed her after she had been in a kennel while we were out of town other than that no real smell and once in a while we use puppy wipes to freshen her up.

I bathe mine as little as possible. Maybe once a year. they don't smell however... Only when they breathe in your face.....
I regularly wash their cushions and blankets, they are outside for a walk twice a day and get good food.
Only when Daisy has been in heat I have to wash her, because of the pungeant smell. I avoid soap as much as possible. However, when the weather is rainy I have to shower their legs, belly and feet twice a days, maybe that helps... I have hot water installed in my garden, so I can shower them off even in the winter. Then they are rubbed dry and taken inside...

OH YES!! I remember the red dirt well!! The red foot prints all over the white kitchen floor! I don't know who thought it a good idea to make the floors white in Hawaii! But since we moved in October I no longer have that problem! Just if it rains and I get the regular color mud tracked in.:D

As far as bathing...Loke doesn't seem to need one too often. Corgan, on the other hand could use a daily one, he stinks so bad!! I don't know what is the matter with that one! But usually , he gets one every month or so.

Mine get about every 2-3 weeks. The backyard is stone so when they go out to play they usually come back covered in dust from the stones.

In the summer Roxie gets a bath once a month, but in the winter once every two or three months cause she gets so cold, even if she is in the house. I just wipe her down with a doggy cloth that I buy and it works well for winter if she gets a little dirty. I did give her a bath just tonight though and I was amazed she didn't fight me at all.
