I have a confession to make and of course there is a story involved. I bank at a local bank and have for six years. I do all of my personal and business banking at this financial institution 1-2x per week and everyone knows me and talks to me and me to them. About 2 weeks ago, I went through the drive thru to make a deposit. It was a really cold Saturday morning around 9am in the morning. I had on my thicker black gloves which makes handling objects kind of difficult, but hey, I am good with my hands so no worries. (I was trying to get all of my errands done quickly so that I could get home and beat the time frame I gave myself to do itd
). I made my deposit, started to put the plastic carrier back in the sucky-tube contraption when I lost my grip and the carrier fell. I called the window teller and told him that I dropped the carrier, but that I was going to pull up so that I could open my door to get out and pick up the carrier, so that I could place it back in the sucky thing. I had my window rolled down still, as I had just completed my transaction, I put the car in drive, I pulled foward about a foot when I heard, CRUNCH, SMASH,SMACK! I look up and the teller is laughing hysterically, the person that was in line behind me slammed their car in reverse to go to the other line(apparently I was screwing up the start of their day) and I was still concerned about beating my time. I got out of the car and looked at the damage. The carrier was smashed to bits and pieces. The teller, trying to keep from laughing so hard, tells me that he will come out and pick up the pieces. I told him, no, I'll do it and bring it on in to the bank. I gather up the crushed pieces of hard plastic(and the ink pen) and proceed to drive around to the front of the bank, so that I may take what's left of the carrier inside. I walk into the bank and everyone is cracking up laughing-at my expense. Now, this didn't upset me other than the fact that my time frame was shrinking by the minute, but the main teller kept telling me not to be upset(which I wasn't) and that my day would get better(I was having a really good day, sans the carrier incident). I offered to pay for the carrier but the teller said not to worry about it(this was not a first for them) and to not be upset. I finally had to say that I wasn't upset, but was sorry for the damage, however I was glad to start their day off with a laugh. I went back to the bank later that week and I received many looks accompanied by smirks. I apologized to the tellers for not inspiring any laughter that day, but promised that there is always tomorrow. Do you know the best part? I still made it home that day with 2 minutes to spare
