Bald Eagles

I've never seen a bald eagle, and have been "hunting" them to get a picture. They are known to be at Starved Rock State Park here in Illinois so I made the two hour car trip this weekend, despite a poor weather forcast (dark and dreary). I finally got to see the beautiful birds, and I got some pics, although conditions were not ideal. I saw a couple of "juvenile" bald eagles--I'm told they do not get their white head and tail feathers until they are 5 years old. I also seen one catch a fish! I was using my Nikon d300 with Sigma 150-500. Had to have the lens wide open and ISO cranked up to 800, so pics are pretty soft--especially after cropping in, but I think the birds are still awesome to look at. I think you are right...I was only there for about 1.5 hours and I saw a lot of activity. The eagles knew the weather was getting worse and scurried to get their errands done. They are pretty awesome birds. I am glad I got to finally see them!
