Okay, I did something today and I feel awful, I gave Samson a spanking on his hiney. I was trying to vacum and mop my floors, he just refused to get away, he kept following me, getting under foot, then laying right where I needed to clean. I kept sending him to his room, but as soon as I turned my back he was back at my feet again. Athena was the good girl she went and layed on her bed and just watched. I new I had to get this done, my time was short, and my blood started boiling so I yelled at him "GET OUT" smacked him on the butt, and chased him to his room. After awhile I looked in there, he had the most hurt look on his face, I went in there to baby him and he wanted nothing to do with me, can you blame him. I just let him be, by the time I got home from work all was forgotten, he is now my sweet slobbery baby. Am I evil, has any one's Boxer every pushed them to this point? Believe me I am a firm believer in not spanking dogs for training. Let us start this as a new poll. Good Luck All, and let's be honest.LOL

JoAnn, I know what you mean. I myself was very bad to my sweet poor girl sometimes :( When I'm thinking of it afterwards I feel so sorry and can't forget her face at those moments. One of things that makes me get into fury is when Tina finds and eats something during a walk. I yell NO! - she wouldn't listen, instead she would run from me to finish this stuff, then I get nuts. When she comes back to me, I yell at her so badly and I can smack her on her butt - people must be thinking I am a comlete psycho. And you know what she does? She just sits there scared and waves a paw in the air as if saying - please, please, don't shout at me, don't bit me, I will be a good girl. And then I don't talk to her and she tries to catch my eyes, if you could only see it.

Well, you see now how bad I am? So... yes, guilty. Don't blame yourself that badly, I guess that happens to EVERY dog owner sometimes ;)

I must say, Pharaoh rarely does anything now that upsets me anymore ...he's so good...except maybe one thing. When he has to vomit, he'll actually LEAVE the nalonium floors and go seek a spot on the carpet. Drives me NUTS!!! Arrrgh. When he was little, I once came home to find my futon drug to the ground and ripped open with stuffing, cotton, and foam all over the floor...my doorframes chewed up...my down comforter peed on , and my down pillows distroyed. I yelled at him and he peed on the floor because he was scared. That only made me MORE upset. He got a good whacking on the butt that day, and I put him in the bathroom and shut the door and ranted and raved as I cleaned the whole mess. After calming down, I felt so bad....I thought I was an awful mommy (I think I even cried..ha). Anyhow, I never spanked him again, and rather chose to "punish" him by ignoring him completely or making him go in "Time out" (his basket).
So, don't feel too guilty ...we've all slipped!
Jennifer :)

I've slipped too. I had a meltdown one day after cleaning up pee, poop and vomit off of the floor several times and then having Wagner chase the cats endlessly. I yelled at him, gave him a smack on the hiney and put him in his crate. I then began to sob! I was certainly having a meltdown. Wagner visited the inside of his crate for a little while so I could pull myself back together again! It happens! We're not perfect!

Nino is almost 3 years old and never been smacked. I really don't think he could ever do anything to get me to that point. He goes crazy if he just thinks I'm upset with him so I don't know what he would do if I ever smacked him.

I'm gonna get it for this..................

Here goes........I don't think a smack on the butt once in awhile is that bad. Don't get me wrong I don't mean a HIT, never cause your baby pain. I mean a slight smack on the butt, that doesn't hurt them physically, just their feelings. Sometimes the dogs are stubborn and just won't get out of the way! There has been times when Eddie would stand right in a door way and look at me as i try to get through, rather than play his game and try to plow through him, i will give him a tap on the butt and tell him to get out of the way. He moves his butt over and lets me through.

Nervous about the replies to thiswackicon

I am right there behind you Nicki, Eddies mom, Cooper gets little taps also sometimes. Even though I hear it from my fiance that I should not do that.

Personally, I am glad to read that there are humans on this board! Most of the replies to the posts make everyone sound so perfect it makes one wonder "what the heck am I doing wrong" or "do I have devil dogs, mine certainly don't behave like that!"

Glad to see everyone has a bad day every now and then. I have had to resort to using a rolled up newspaper and hitting the walls LOUDLY to make mine quit trying jumping the baby gate. And, if I do catch one of them in the act, I will probably swat them on their butts with the newspaper. Right now that is the sound that most affects them. The pennies in the can didn't work at all. I caught them chewing on the can.

I don't think we are bad moms, I think we are humans & our little stinkers sometimes take us to the limit!nonoicon It's nice to see we are all fallible.

It's probably worse to be a softy boxer mom like I am--I just ignore bad behaviour, and then I feel so bad that 2 minutes later I'm lying on the floor next to her apologizing! It speaks well of Georgie's character that she doesn't take advantage of her pushover mom too often!

BUT....I almost strangled her today, literally! I had her and her "cousin," Mattie, in the back of my car and it started to rain. I checked both back windows to make sure that noses, ears, etc. were out of the way and raised the windows. Then there was a terrible commotion--somehow in that split second, Georgie had put her head out the window and when I raised it her head got stuck! Talk about feeling bad....thank heavens she's all right and didn't hold it against me!
