Wow..I guess I should never complain about $1200 a year. I have two cars, a 97 Escort and a 96 Stratus with full coverage and low dedcutables. We have called around to see if there are lower rates but no one can even come close. I have State Farm and have been with them for 24 Years. I have had two accidents in that ammount of time that were mine or my wife's fault. I think staying witht he same Insurance Company for so long may be why my rate is so low.

Guess I shouldn't complain about the cost of car insurance in the UK either - but I still do. I haven't had an accident in years, and never a serious one. But the rates are astronomical here. So much so that I think the only near-perfect investment would be to have shares in an insurance company LOL

I'm not sure if the insurance companies work the same where you live as where I live but I was in the same situation paying close to $4000.00 year for insurance because I only had a partial liscence (g2 have to drive one full year before we are allowed a full G liscense) anyway I had an at fault accident. What I learned is that it is best to stay with your current compay because here it stays on your driving record for 2 years but with insurance for 3 years once that time period is up you are free to look. If you want to leave your company they tend to put you in what is called "facility insurace" which is the "high risk" category.
I am now paying less than $1000.00/year for a 2002 Honda CRV not bad and my new company even has forgiveness so they have not penalized me for me huge speeding ticket.
