I know its allergy season and Stella has definitely been affected this year more than usuall. She has been to the vet about this issue and we have changed foods, changed detergents, wipe off her feet after we go outside, I could go on for 30 min about all the stuff we do to help her out with these allergies. The vet says shes just sensitive and to give her Benadryl 2 times a day. This has been going on for about a year now and seems lately to only be getting worse. Ive been reading up on Canine Atopic Dermatitis and it seems that with each passing say Stella seems to fit the symptoms to a T. She has a vet appt. but she cant be seen for 2 weeks by our normal vet.
So my question is...does anyone else have this issue or any ideas of what else I can do that I'm not thinking of? Any help or ideas would be awesome!

My hunch was right!

Well, we went to the vet today and Mrs Stella does have Atopic Dermatitis, a small staff infection (which I have no clue how she got, other than from running around in the woods and getting scratched up) and an infection on her face in the little creases around her nose, and a toe nail fungus from food allergies. So, they did a skin scraping for Mange and that came back negative for all parasites (thank god bc Luke had Demodectic Mange as a puppy thanks to the wonderful breeder that was breeding her Demodectic dogs). They gave her a shot of antibiotics, put her on a steroid and a antihistamine that we alternate every other day between, medicated wipes for her face and put her on Royal Canin Skin Support prescription food.

Sorry I have rambled on and on about all this, I just feel like a horrible mommy today. I am glad that she is getting some relief but I feel like with all that being wrong with her that you would think that I didn't take care of her at all. Both of them are inside dogs and get tons of outdoor exercise and go to the vet on a regular basis. All of this just came upon her so fast I guess and I just thought it was seasonal allergies. Oh well, I am just glad that everything is under control and hope that she gets better soon. Shes passed out in my lap as we speak snoring her little heart out and the redness on her skin is already starting to go away!!! Relief is on the way!!!!! Woo-hooooooo!!!!
