New Brook Run Dog park just opened in Dunwood
Thanks for the information on Oakhurst EricaG. I've been about 4-5 times and haven't had problems with mud, but never in periods of heavy rain like this week. The rain we've seen this week has been nonstop until today so I agree we shouldn't take chances with Oakhurst.
So moving right along... no reason for a change of venue to spoil our bash! As it happens I came across an article in the AJC from 1/12/2006 that they just opened a new dog park in Dunwoody called the Brook Run dog park. It's 2.5 acres and the whole area is really nicely done from what I can tell on the web site that shows drawings of the plans from last year -
http://www.dunwoodynorth.org/brookrun/. Anyway, more importantly it just opened so I'll make a few calls tomorrow to make sure it's fenced, confirm that it's open to any and all, and to get an idea of what type of crowd to expect. In the meantime, please chime in if Dunwoody works for everyone. Sorry about the change in venue late in the game.
Here's the snippet from the 1/12/06 AJC:

Dog free-run zone to open Saturday
Dogs can legally escape their leashes and freely roam 2.5 acres in a newly created section of Brook Run Park in Dunwoody.
The "off-leash dog area" officially opens at 11 a.m. Saturday with a ceremony including CEO Vernon Jones.

I think with a bunch of boxers on the loose we should shoot for totally enclosed, which is why Oakhurst sounded nice.
