Spongemagnet, if you are a sicko, then so am I. When we first got Jasper, his messes would make me ill. I would clean up a poo or a puke with one hand, because the other was clasped firmly over my mouth. (Especially the puke, oh dear that made me sick)

After a couple of weeks though, I was poking through it the puke with gloves to make sure there were no nasties in there (and if there was I would know to tell the vet when he was rushed there DYING because I was a bad bad mummy who hadn't seen whatever he had eaten THIS time...you get the drift?).

So I went from one extreme to the other. Yeah, I am a sicko too.

Brindle Jax Dad, how is your little girl doing? Is she still peeing that much? If she is it might be a good idea to just phone the vet. Maybe she has a UTI or something.

Re: BAD Housetraining Evening

Just a thought, but is it an option to leave the door leading outside open enough for the puppy to get through when it needs to?
My baby girl Hailey is 12 weeks old and this is the method I use while I'm in the house during the day/evening. It has worked wonderfully, it's been weeks since her last indoor accident. Plus, she now associates being outside with going potty. I can put her out, close our sliding glass door and stand on the other side telling her to go potty. She squats and goes while never taking her eyes away from mine. I then let her in and praise her.

Mickey is 11 weeks now and getting pretty good with the potty training. I was getting ready for work this morning and he took off out of the bedroom and down the hall, I thought he was chasing the big cat. Not so. smashicon He had to go pee, I found out when I came out of the bedroom and went past the foyer and he was sniffing at the area in front of the door. He had to pee and I didn't get the hint when he went dashing out the door of the bedroom. Bad puppy Momma! :( Those are the kind of accidents he has now, but I distinctly remember the week from the underworld when I was sure we'd never learn!

I am glad to say that we have become better puppy parents. beericon

This too will pass, lookingmich.

If your puppy seems to be going potty excessively, check for bladder infection. This will cause frequent urination.

I was going out of my mind with Obie, and then when he was about six months old, he just caught on. Now, he is nine months old, and it has been forever since he last had an accident.

He even comes up to me when he needs to go out and paws at me and whines.

Be patient, they do catch on, and then there is no stopping them!;)

Frequent little puddles could indicate a UTI, I agree. If this is still going on tomorrow, for sure call your vet. I had a Dobie, female pup with this issue. When she was under 1 year of age she had several of them. Why I don't know. I was home with her 24/7 and she never had to hold it for more than 1 or 2 hours on any given day.
Hope the little darling is better soon!:)

Doggie Door

I LOVE my doggie door!lovicon

After that sucker was installed, potty training was a breeze.
Obie caught on so fast it was not to be believed, and he taught Dip to use it.

Dip is not quite four months old, and her accidents are few and far between, which is very good for a puppy her age.

If you have the situation that is needed (a door that leads directly into a fenced area) I would highly recommend the doggie door.;)

I have even housebroken my cats, and they use it, too.

I am in complete agreement with Boo on the potty training advice. Our pup goes quickly when she's outside with my wife, but seems to think it's play time with me when I take her out. One time we're outside an hour after a meal before she goes, but if I wait ten minutes the next time, it's time to get the little green machine out again. Oh the joys of potty training!
