I have a 8 month old. I am wondering if rawhides are ok? If they are, what brands or kinds are ok? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I wouldn't give rawhide in any shape or form. They're both a terrible choking hazard, and a really good way to give a dog bacterial poisoning (and a nice dose of chemicals to boot). Better to give them natural items to chew on, such as raw bones (or if you can't face the thought of that, then large inedible nylabones are probably the next best thing).

No they fall in the same catagory as rawhides. You can try Bully sticks they are more expensive but a yummy treat.
No. Did you not read the link above? Any form of dried body part that is essentially leather is not OK to give to your dog. Give natural things (natural meaning what nature intended dogs to chew on, not what some manufacturer puts on the label) to your dog instead. Raw bones are hard to beat

I will tell you NEVER to give your dog any rawhide. My puppy was given a rawhide (when I was not home), the kind with knots on both sides, he chewed and ate 1/2 of it, then I came home, shocked to see my pup with a piece of rawhide so I tried to get it away from him but I was too slow, he just swollowed the rest (the not-yet chewed rawhide with one knot). He drank all day, diarrhea day and night and a trip to the vet. I was very worried (never this worried in my life) that he might have a stomach blockage. I slept next to his crate to take him out in the middle of the night. After a few more days he was better and I did not see anything come out with his poo. So until now I don't know where that knotted rawhide is. NO RAWHIDE.

I had a relative come over to visit my family when I was not here and gave Dozer a rawhide bone. He ate the whole thing. I was so scared he would have a problem when I found out what happened and then all night threw up chunks of it. :( The pieces were all swelled up huge like 3 times the size, I can totally see how they can cause a blockage.
