Both my dogs tend to scare people.

I dont know why people just walk away from us anytime we are with Attila and or Daphne. Attila is nothing but a little scardy cat. And daphne just wants to give kisses. I have people all the time at Petco come up and want to pet them, as well as my 2yr old nephew and 9month old niece who just love "horse" rides (with supervision and me next to them....).
Just the other day I had the dogs out playing in the little snow we had left and guess who shows up???? Animal Control stating there was a complaint that I was having illegal dog fights between two pit bulls. I said okay now where would these pit bulls be and why would anyone be cruel to animals like that. She stated that the pit bulls were 1x Tan and 1x Black and Tan brindle. I said that my dogs our those colors but boxers and never fight each other. She could clearly see that my boxers are not cruel vicous dogs because they were outside playing and just sat at my drive-way when she pulled infront of my house. I asked who filed the complaint, and she said cant give names but the person only lives a few houses away. I could only think of one person that lives 3houses down that also have boxers but they diss like us because I wont become a BYB with my male and their female. Long story short she stated that this is a verbal warning and not citing me a ticket. But stated to be carefull because they might try to make accusations again.

Beau tends to sense when people are frightened by him & he barks more,& if a stranger stares into his eyes he really barks he can be very scary but in reality he's a big lover

One time when Apollo was set free(accidentally), he went roaming the neighborhood. One of the neighbor ladies was washing her french door and said she saw him standing behind her. She was scared, so she thought that she would spray him with water to frighten him away. She started to point the hose at him and he came forward....to get a drink. She said she laughed so hard over that and has been in love with him since. Other people are afraid of the boys, but typically it is because they are afraid of dogs in general(bad past experience)or because the boys would do as others of you have said, they'd lick you to death(and Rocky would sprinkle on them):)

I think people who don't know the breed are normally scared of my two boxers.
Usually....most parents will hover over thier children when we walk near by. Tell them not to go near "that dog." Or when people just move away from us like we have an airborne disease.

Then...... there's the one's who know Boxers and get so excited when they see them. Approach us and love on my babies.

I guess Rocky just has such a baby face and playful manner most people just make over him wherever we go. At the pet stores people seem to come from everywhere to play with him- kids, adults, dogs, whatever. Even at the park it's fairly rare that someone shows fear and if they do it's obvious they're not familiar with dogs in general. I guess we're lucky enough to live in a very dog friendly area!

Now that said, he'll scare a stranger to death when they ring my doorbell or knock on the door! I mean, Rocky is not a vocal dog and rarely barks but when he does, he sounds like a 400 pound rabid beast. In reality, he's excited that someone is there and he thinks he's the official greeting party. If released he would want nothing more than to lick the stranger to death. Of course when outside and unfamiliar with his personality, I certainly understand the intimidation factor.

For me it is mixed. Either people will run up to Sal to pet her or they think she is a pitbull. On Halloween, I had a few kids start to scream and cry when they saw her. It is interesting how people react to her.

With me it depends on where we are. Most times people adore Boxers if they are familiar with dogs. When we go to PetsMart, adults and kids all want to pet and see Ty. But, I have gone on walks where people ran to their garage upon seeing him.

On one hand, I hate this. On the other, I think, hey, I guess if he looks that big and scary, no one will mess with me!

when i go to the park with chloe i do have people who walk around us to avoid her and moms and dads not letting their kids come close but i chalked it up over the years to their loss. if they only knew what awaited them if they came and got to know her( tons of boxer kisses and wiggles) if was alot worse when maxi was alive and i had both of them out no one came near us.

I get so irritated when people will go out of their way to avoid our dogs. We live in an apartment complex and a lady that lives above us will walk AROOOOUND the building to avoid our patio when the dogs are out. I overheard her tell her husband that she's afraid that the dogs will jump the bannister. Granted, they definitely could, but they don't know they can. And at the dog park, there are a few people that will leave when we get there because they say that our dogs look mean and play too rough, WITH EACH OTHER!! Whatever. I know that my babies are so loving and would lick someone to death before they ever bit anyone. If someone wants to judge them before getting to know them, then I don't want my kids to meet them anyway. So there!
