Are people afraid of your boxer(s)??

Most people are definately afraid of Aus. I guess the "Bad A$$ Boxer" sticker on my front window doesn't help! One of our mailmen told me Austin has a reputation at the post office! I'm sure it's not a good one! I think I'd rather people be a little afraid of him then think he's a push over, which he isn't anyway. He would bite for sure if he felt he needed to. I feel very safe with him in my house!

I have come across one person that was afraid of Ginger. A few months ago, I was out front gardening and had the front door open and Ginger was looking out. Gotta see what is going on.:rolleyes: Well a salesman came up the driveway and she went nuts inside. He only spoke a few words, I told him I was not interested. He took one look at her, frightened and took off down the street in a hurry.:D

So far, three people have been afraid of Joe. When I took Joe into my husbands work for show and tell:D , his assistant was so scared it was almost funny. She stood there and talked to us for about 30 minutes, but would not go near Joe. Whe she wasn't looking, Joe gently jumped up on her and she actually screamed. Did I mention that Joe was only 16 weeks old at the time???:D
The other two people who were afraid of Joe were my kids friends. One was and 11 year old girl and the other a 13 year old boy. It's a good lesson for my kids to see that not everyone is going to love Joey like we do and we need to respect their fears(or educate them).

Dempsey does intimidate some. Which is just fine with me. The people who know him...love him.

The intimidation comes in handy sometimes....
My husband came home for lunch one day to find some workers at a house across the street. These guys kept coming over into our yard and hanging out to take their (too numerous) breaks. I had gone out to get the mail earlier and felt uncomfortable with their stares and words among each other. Being home alone, it bothered me. My husband decided to take Dempsey for a walk. As soon as he walked out of the garage, they looked at the dog and slowly walked back over to the neighbors and got back to work. They kept looking over their shoulder. I chuckled as I peeked out the front door. I opened the front window blinds, so Dempsey could keep a close eye on them the rest of the afternoon.

Lots of people are afraid of Coal. I think a lot of it has to do with people thinking he is a pit bull. I usually take him for walks in the afternoon and countless numbers of people will either cross the street or stop and wait till I pass.
Its a bit upsetting b/c I know that he is the sweetest pup in the world and he'd never hurt anyone. Granted he does bark when he sees new people walk by or if the door bell rings, but all he ever wants to do is play and give big wet kisses.
But, I gotta agree letting some people think he's a mean dog does make me feel safer.

One of our neighbors was the one feeding and checking on first
purebred. He came over to feed and water and check the place,which wasOk but he went to the barn to borrow a tool andGinger would not let him leave with it. He told everyone in our neighborhood and for 20 years no one bothered our things or house if there was a Boxer. Also, had a Fuller BRush man wait for
us one afternoon,because Flicka jumped in the front seat so his car.

Yes, they are very afraid of Samson. They say it's his cropped ears and they say he is "huge." He does have the broad head, neck, and chest (as he should have). He only weighs about 65 pounds, he will top out at 75 or so I believe. I do not think he is huge at all. Samson has always had this serious look about him, even when he was 9 weeks old.

Nobody is afraid of Delilah or Tyra. Tyra weighed in at 44 pounds yesterday. Since we rescued her I believe she has lost weight but the vet did not seem concerned. He said that she will pick the weight back up, plus more. Delilah is just plain tiny. She is shorter and weighs around 38 pounds. They are both 7 months old.

Anyway, yep, they are afraid of one of our boxers. He can wag his tail, look like a baby, etc..., and they are still very afraid. I tell people that he would lick them to death instead of bite.

Rowdy gets mixed reactions. Some peoples' eyes get wide and they avoid us, but some people have to pet Rowdy. I do get called sir more often when we are walking, not that I am looking for it. It makes me feel old.

We too have idiot children in our neighborhood that will run/ride their bikes in from of houses just to get the dogs barking. They do this to us, and to a freind of ours on the other side of the subsivision, and probably to anyone else with a dog.
We even have had problems with one that would ring the doorbell and run just to get the dog upset. I called this childs mother and chatted. WHenever her son has friends over things lapper. Once it was eggs. SHe has every excuse in the book, but can't deny it, because only a couple of people have kids the age that do stupid stuff like this. The last time this happened, I took my boy out for a walk, and found the kids. They went running home, so I called and talked to her. SHe admitted they'd been out, and could even hear son in background asking why I was caling..and why was I upset they rang the doorbell! She told him people don't like that. I told her that if stuff like this kept happening I'd have to call the police and involve them. SO far it's been a year an no further problems.

I think most people are a tad leary of Sophie. They kind of "side-step" around her the first time they see her. She is large for a female and if her ears were cropped she would really look fearsome. But with her floppy ears and outgoing personality, wiggly butt, and kisses, it's not long before she wins them over. She does bark if someone knocks on the door and that makes me feel a little safer. :D
