Hello Fellow Boxer Lovers!

I haven't had a chance to post since I introduced myself. We became boxer parents to Zoey this past May. Zoey is a 3 year old female boxer who came from a home where she was neglected. We don't believe she was abused, but she was terribly underweight when we bought her. When we met the previous owner and Zoey, I had serious reservations about buying her because I thought maybe we were getting hustled into paying for a sick dog. That is how underweight she was. Much to our relief, the vet told us that she is in perfect health but very underweight. I explain all of this because I am wondering if maybe there was something in her upbringing that she doesn't bark. We have only heard her bark twice since we have had her. Once at the truck alarm when my husband accidentally hit the panic button and the other time was with a new toy. Are all boxers this quiet? She is a very happy dog who gets a lot of love and attention, and that loves her toys and loves to see if she can get to the squirrels in the backyard before they get in the trees.

I grew up in a family who always had Springer Spaniels that were vocal. I now turn to the BW family who can hopefully answer my questions.

Thanks.

I can't answer for everyone, but mine sure isn't. She loves to bark, whine, and make noises just to hear herself (I think). She barks a good bit, but that is because I let her get away with it when she was younger. Maybe Zoey was taught NOT to bark.

Compared to my other 2 dogs, Sherlock was a mime. If he joined in with the barking then it really needed to be looked into.

My little guy barks and growls and woo woo's when he's playing but my rescued female only barks when something is wrong or the little one wont quit picking on her or growls at agressive dogs. I think just barking on her own i've heard her once.

I have a VERY mouthy little boy. My neighbors have a 1 year old brindle girl, and she never makes a peep. I don't believe she is mistreated. I think they just have different personalitiess.

Mine are not quiet!! I love all of the silly boxer noises, and I don't mind them barking at people who approach the house (as long as they listen when I say quiet). I have encouraged them when they bark, woowoo, or make any other silly noise. I do think, like someone else mentioned above, they all have different personalities. One of my friend's boxer girls is very quiet and I think that is just her personality.

Kuma just recently "found" her voice...she barks at the cat and some of her toys sometimes...but i wouldn't say it's a constant thing...yet...lol
