My daughter is 10 and about 5 feet tall. I don't like to let Sebastian mouth play with her or rough house too much since he will eventually be big and I don't want her to think its okay to keep romping so hard that its possible that he can inadvertently hurt her later. Any tips on teaching her and him what's acceptable play ?

When I was a kid I used to wrestle and roughhouse with our dogs all the time. The dog gets bigger, but so did I. The dog learns what is acceptable and not when it comes to play on their own, no need to really teach them anything other than to stop when told.

Common theme for teaching to stop is for the child to stand like a tree - arms crossed in front of chest and ignore the dog. We are teaching our pup this now, as we will likely be sitting for my goddaughter, who is 2. we want to know that when the pup sees this reaction that it's time to do nothing and just wait. It takes a lot of consistency, but she's learning.
Only other thing i'd suggest is teach your daughter how to behave if the dog is getting too rough - and always be consistent with the reaction. it might just be that getting up and walking away is sufficient, or the stand like a tree approach. But your daughter should be the one telling the dog what is acceptable... imho... so that the pup acknowledges her as being higher in the pecking order in the house

Exactly what I was going to say.
