Apple iPods

I have a 4gb Nano and I use it all the time. They have a new design out so I hope your hubby shops early this year, it might sell out again. Hopefully it won't be so scratch prone. I have a boombox at work I got at Best Buy that it docks with. I have tried three other ones and this was the best quality and sound for reasonable money. Here's a link:

The ear buds that come with it are total crap, very painful and kept falling out. These are way better:

They are not active noise cancelling ear buds but almost all outside sound is blocked out. They come with several different styles of tips so you can find a comfortable fit for your ear.

I have the 2GB (500 songs) nano, I use it every morning when I take Ruby for her walk. It's great, the sound quality and volume are really good, it is simple to use too. I don't drive so I don't have any info on having it in the car. I love the size and shape, it slips into your jean pocket without being too bulky or heavy

we are the family that needs there ipods. dh has the 30gig. me and my younger dd have the mini which they don't make anymore and my other dd has the nano I have the adapter in my car and love it. dh has the bose thing to listen at home. I don't know what we did without it. also dh is looking for a car and it has to be ipod ready.

My DH just bought an 80gb and he LOVES it. He's resisted buying one for a long time, but finally broke down. He listens to it in the car, on planes, when he's going to sleep, etc. His favorite feature is that he can record movies on it too

We're an apple family. I have the first generation ipod. We both got updated ipods last christmas, my husband has a 40G and I have a 20G. I just got a nano to work with the Nike + and my husband has a shuffle he recieved as a groomsmans' gift. He uses that when he cleans...I try to encourage that

I don't really use my ipod at home. We both have macintosh computers and use airport express to play our itunes through the stereo.

I agree with PP, the FM transmitter stinks. Neither of our cars have a cassette so we can't connect that way and the FM transmitter is just really disappointing. There are integration kits you can get, I have a few friends that have the Dension Ice integration kit. My car can play music off an SD card so it's not an issue for me but it is for my husband. Personally, if I were to go with an integration kit, I'd go with Dension although there are others out there. You can do a google search to get more info.

The first generation I had was 5G and for me it was more than enough space. I usually only used it at work and it was only 2-3 hours at a time. I never heard half the music that was on there and it was really easy to change what I had on my ipod. On the other hand, my husband has the 40G and he feels it's not enough space. He has an hour commute on the train into work and uses it a lot during the day and when he is traveling. I think the size just really depends on what you are going to use it for.

That is exactly what I wanted thank you all for your feedback! I am going to give him the list hopefully tonight, so he can work on getting everything BEFORE it sells out. Thanks Pearlywhirly for the link to the boombox, I have seen many of these but didn't know which one has the best sound, and we only have a crappy cd/radio player now, so this will be a must for the accessory list as well as the Dension Ice intergration kit that lisid recommended!

We will be looking for a new car/suv in the spring and I will definately have to put ipod ready on the MUST have list . I am so glad that I chose iTunes when I started downloading music, sounds like it will be so easy, even for me. I noticed last night in iTunes that it tells you how many songs and much GB's you have in your library, so I will finish importing the rest of DH's cd to see how much room I will need.

My husband is anal retentive when it comes to purchasing electronics and he researchs like a maniac. He found these particular speakers to be the best deal with the best quality. (And on amazon you can find it a heck of a lot cheaper than anywhere else). We have it at home and you wouldn't believe the sound on that little thing. It is also small enough that you can take it to different rooms in your house. (Though it really is loud, so you might not have to).
