If you are looking for a dehydrator, make sure it has a temperature control or it will be too hot and cook whatever you have in there. They have a cheap dehydrator at walmart that has a temp control, it's called Harvest something. That is the kind I purchased. Once you have it, you shouldn't put the temp above 115. :)

I've been reading ya'lls thread with interest. I have a couple of questions for those of you on it that might help me decide if I can try this. Did most of you eat a lot of meat protein before starting, and did any of you have a little hypoglycemia and how is that turning out? Just wondering, it looks interesting and have heard of it, especially in the metaphysical community, however I do not feel good if I don't eat eggs and chicken everyday to keep my blood sugar more level. The funny thing is I don't really love meat, and rarely eat red meat. Just trying to decide between this or another diet change that my friend is on and lost a lot of weight on in a week. Thank ya for the help! :)

For me I ate meat everyday at least at 2 meals, and not in a healthy way. I actually gained about 60 pounds in 4 years of inactivity, may not seem to bad but untill that point I could never gain a pound. So last year I started eating better but with 15-20 pounds to go nothing was working so I started researching. Ive never been big into veggies or anything but after reading up on it and really wanting to try new things I decided to go 100% raw for 2 months.

Ive only been on it for a few days and I find myself needing to eat more to keep my blood sugar up but usually a piece of fruit is all it takes if when I dont have a whole lot of time.

After years of eating horrible things Im feeling it even after a few days I hope its just my mind trying to psyche me out but either way im determined to keep this up. Its mostly aches and pains and Ive had a wierd headache all day.

Ohh and i made guacomole last night it turned out great I used the recipe out of Cohen's book (the name escapes me right now) but added a little garlic and jalapeno to it. Been eatin it all day!

I have diabeties but it is so slight that all I need is 1 tablet of 5mg Glyburide a day to keep my blood sugar down. I have noticed since I am not eating any processed sugar (bread and cereal and rice included) that my bs is staying down and regulating itself on its own :) :) :)

I used to make sure I ate meat and or eggs for 2 of my daily meals because I am in a wheelchair and at the hospital they told me it was very important to have a lot of protien so my skin doesn't break down and get pressure sores.

It turns out that when you eat meat or animal protien - your body doesn't digest hardly any of it, so it's wasted :(

All plants have protien in them - you can't get protien difficiancy from not eating meat or eggs - you get MORE protien from eating plant foods Because it is different and your body can absorb/break it down. It can't really do that with animal protien too well and the animal protien isn't what your body is using - it is using an acid in it - and animal protien doesn't have a lot of the acid.

Body builders eat a whole lot of protien and they say how great it is - well if it is so great, then why do they need SO MUCH of it?? - from Alyssa's book

Melissa,
I was eating Lowcarb for 3 years prior to going raw. I had lost some weight, but I was getting very sick, diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Eating more often, in smaller amounts helps with the blood sugar issue. I haven't ever had a problem and I think it's b/c I'm not eating processed sugar. The body reacts differently to the sugar in fruits.

Some people transition by still eating eggs or steamed veggi's in the beginning. I was never able to do that, it just temped me to eat other stuff that was cooked.

Thanks so much for your replies. I may just have to give in an order the book. This may help me, just because my body is one that reacts very quickly to something that is toxic to me, which is a lot it seems. Certain chemicals and ingredients in processed food makes me sick within hours of eating it. I am drinking a tea now that seems to help me, and the reactions don't seem as bad.

I have really had to switch over to holistic medicine to help me, because after all kinds of tests and scans, conventional medicine couldn't find what happened (even though I knew that I drank something that was poison to me and started all this). I did try at one time to eat every couple of hours, and a little fruit, however I actually got worse. I am better than I was a couple of years ago, and seem to stablize my sugar so I don't worry about it now, so I may try this, but still eat the eggs in the morning.

Congrats Bxrbestfriend!! :)

Good job fighting the chicken and pizza demons lol!

I did good yesterday until I had my raw fajitas, I used jalapenos that were a little (a lot) too spicey and I ate some bread to cool off :( I figure it was better than drinking milk though ;)

The great thing is - if I eat cooked food, it makes me feel like crap afterwards, as if I ate something wrong - so that keeps me in line :)

Yeah, I've noticed now that I eat salads more often than not, I feel slightly sick when I eat a piece of meat. I loved ribeyes before...medium rare so I could soak up the juices with a piece of bread. Some friends came over Sunday night to go ride 4-wheelers. Afterwards, I prepared ribeye steaks and heated up some leftover fish and shrimp dish I had made earlier in the week. I also prepared a huge salad with eveyrhting in it. My meal consisted of almost two platefuls of salad, some of the seafood dish and a couple bites of the steak. I gave the rest to my boyfriend. He looked at me and asked if I was sick. I told him that I just didn't feel like eating the entire steak (didn't want to alarm our friends into thinking something was wrong with the steak!!)

But I remember I cut off a piece of the steak and I looked at it, and thought "yeuuuuuuck."

I'm just glad we have salad options at fast food restaraunts now because my boyfriend still swears by meat!

Portiz: I feel your pain my Bro BBQ hamburgers last night for Monday night Football I couldnt even eat with them I was tempted SOOO BAD Im tryin real hard to stay 100% raw. It hasnt even been a week and I find myself drawn to the MEAT lol. Its kind of a scary thought for me not to think Meat looks appetizing but I bet it would make the whole RAW thing a little easier.

Im kinda scared that after my 60 days I wont be able to enjoy meat like I always have but I guess Ill just have to wait and see.
